I tried not to make my title very misleading. I've been told I make very misleading titles.

Anyway, I have a question:
What's emo?
I know it sounds kinda dumb but it's just I've heard multiple definations for emo.
Some say it's just a type of way people dress. Some say it's short for emotional. Some say it's depressed people.

What is it, exactly?

Emo is short for emotional. I think it's used to describe overly emotional pessimistic people with many depressing thoughts. They may have low self esteem and sometimes try to draw attention by self inflicted injures like cutting themselves.
(In RL they are very annoying.)

Some people associate it with Goth people because of the interest in the theme death. Goth is fashion style. While some Emo people may like to dress in Gothic style. Goth people may not be a Emo.

That's my 2 cents.

But, this is probably what most people associate it with:

I see an Emo as someone who either looks like an Emo (tight black jeans, the mascara but mainly the Emo Hair)
or someone who does the whole depression thing even though they have nothing to be depressed about. 😕

Where I live, it means overly pessimistic people who "look it" also. They scare me, and most people that I know in some way or another.

To me, it's almost like they've given up all hope for a good life to make for themselves.

Emo is a genre of music, and some assholes decided to call Scene kids emo. Who knows why, lol.

Only posers call themselves emo. <.< Depressed people ( what many people may think is emo) dont talk about it, thus they arent posers.
