From Storm in Heaven and one of their legacy groups, Bamboo Feathers:

Deep in a cave lies a demon trapped in ice who will eat any human who dares enter. The demon, Blood, waits for the human who will cry the purest tears, for the gem formed from those tears will break the spell that binds him.

One day, a young man named Ishuca appears in the cave—and knowing that his weak heart will not last long, he has come to die. Touched by Ishuca's gentle nature, Blood gradually begins to change from the cruel, ice-cold demon he once was.

The last time I read Koori no Mamono no Monogatari was when there was only about four or five volumes scanlated, and recently I decided to reread the manga and catch up with it. If you haven't been keeping up with the series (or if you haven't been able to get past the first seven volumes) READ IT.

Like mentioned in a previous comment, the plot doesn't start to get intense until about volume 9.

Anyways, I love this series, just as I love Silver Diamond. Light BL, deep character bonds with each other, etc.

Out of the hundreds of BL manga I've read so far, Koori no Mamono no Monogatari is my absolute favorite. I love everything about it - plot, characters, relationship developments, art, etc. - it is a truly touching series that has made me tear up more than once while I was reading (and re-reading) it.

With that said, I've to admit that my first impression of Koori wasn't good at all. The quality of the 1st volume scanlation was poor, and the artwork as well as plot at the beginning were extremely ordinary, so I thought about either just skimming through the series or dropping it altogether.

However, everything improves with each volume and the story really comes together. Perhaps what I love most about this series is that nothing about it is over-dramatic; it stays real while working with the complications of human emotions and human nature. While I consider Koori a fairytale, and it has its fair share of comedic moments, it also has enough angst to satisfy an angst-lover like me.

To make a long comment short, I strongly, strongly recommend this series!

The best shounen ai since 'Sono Yubi Dake ga Shitteiru' (ok KnMnM technically came out before that) trust me i've read hundreds of yaoi/shounen-ai by now. At first the 24 volumns were a bit daunting, i didn't think it would would've held my interest for more than a volume or two (blame the short attention span) but i got through all 24 volumes within just a week.
The art was gorgeous and the story was even more so. Although the BL content was light, the love and respect that the main chartacters had for each other was conveyed beautifully.
Highly recommended!

The story is simple because it's targetted at younger readers. However, the characterisation and emotions between the 2 main characters and even the cast are intense, well-written and rival many similar stories.

Great manga, but very, very light on the 'shonen-ai' aspect of things

Lovely story, very sweet, sometimes quite tragic, sometimes much lighter and fun. Beautiful art too, especially later in the series - the style progresses to become something much more like what you could see in Silver Diamond. Just don't expect anything much to happen with regard to the shonen-ai aspect of things biggrin

I read this manga after reading Silver Diamond and I asked myself, why didn't I found this sooner? It's great really. You might be irked with the grammar on the first few scanlations (deal with it, at least there's someone willing to scanlate it), but the storyline is very good. There are cute moments, angst-ish moments and of course, touching moments.

There is plot, mind you ^__^. For you to see the plot of the story, you'll have to read volume 9 and later. And yes, you can say that the plot is slow but not without a good reason. I think that character building is one of the reason a story is good and it is good to spend more time on that. You can see how Ishuca cracks the ice-cold shell that surrounds Blood and why Blood is so attached to Ishuca. You can also see their past that makes them who they are now and how they strengthen their bond.

The art also improves later on in the story. You could see the improvements if you've been reading, It becomes more..beautiful. And dayum, Blood is one bishie I'd want to get my hands on. And I'd like Wild as a bonus if I can, those long, silky black hair are one to die for.

If you are a shounen-ai lover or just one who loves romance with spices of fantasy and action, you have to have this in your reading list.

very un-original and un-interesting...

the plot is so slow...
they just repeat the same phrases again and again in different ways, chapters on it is SO boring...
most of the choices and actions the characters makes are predictable...
sometimes they dont make any sense at all...
Ishuca is so typically uke...
thus, it is...
so, so, so, extremely boring =_=

i might continue reading to see if there are any exciting things...but i wouldn't recommend people to read this =_=

I read silver diamond first so my expectation was high on this one. I like silver diamond better but nevertheless it's amazing. This mangaka really know how to put shonen ai and supernatural together. The only thing its lacking is humor that silver diamond have but this story is more deeper than silver diamond. I really hope it won't get licensed, well not until storm finish scanlating it biggrin If you like silver diamond then i highly recommend this and if you haven't read silver diamond read it now!! biggrin

I'm definitely getting shoujo vibes here

Like TinderBlast said, this would be incredibly normal if it were a shoujo manga. Regardless, the characters are absolutely adorable and they develop as the plot does. There are a lot of humorous moments, which is what I personally love about it, and the characters aren't one dimensional. Still, it definitely loses points for Ishuca's very typical uke-ness.
