Description
From Del Rey: She's a second-year high school student with a single all-consuming question: Will the boy she likes ever really notice her? He's the school's most notorious juvenile delinquent and he's suddenly come to a shocking realization: He's got a huge crush, and now he must tell her how he feels.
NOTE: Ch 232 is actually Ch 231. It was a mistake, there were two 191 published. Now the mistake is corrected, so no Ch. 232.
I have heard so much of this series that I had to see it (well, read it) for myself and yet again, I wasn't disappointed with it so far as I'm reading on. Romance-comedy but more on the comedy.
You just have to read on and see how each character could be anybody we know in real life and the situations that they get themselves into really makes us wonder why we weren't like this during such days.
For anybody who wants to read something so-well familiar in romance comedies but just can't help getting another serving of it, School Rumble is another nice title to add to your collection.
I may be the only one of my friends you like this manga... But I think it's great! It's one of the few manga's I laugh out loud to! Though there are times when it can get a little shallow... But that's one of the reasons I like it!
One reviewer mentioned Maison Ikkoku in comparison to this series. However, to me, the series reminds me a lot how I like the 80's excellent Urusei Yatsura (from the same author as Maison Ikkoku). School Rumble is refreshingly different from a lot other school love comedies. Instead of focusing on few main characters, the story spreads through out several characters, giving them more dimension. It feels more lively and has the vibe of friendship and love -- like they are also our friends. No harem (although Harima is loved by a few girls), no fan service. Pretty much the same reasons why I love Urusei Yatsura so much.
The story can be a bit drag at times, though. But, overall, it's one of the stories that would stay dearly in my heart for a long time.
Probably the funniest comedy during the first half of the manga. Sadly, the manga drops off greatly during the second half with all the filler. Hopefully it gets back on track. There's too much Eri and Harima and not enough Yukumo and Harima.
Well, I am currently at ch162, i don't really hate it that much to give it up, although I am sucker for shounen romance but this one really fails me.. I mean of all the shounen romantic comedy I've read this is the most shoujo-ish. Most part of the story is focused on the girls than the guy(s) and I am guessing girls can appreciate this more than a guy like me..And I can't appreciate most of the humor really. Harima just suck at his attempts and although some girls like him, he is so dense about it because of what he feels for Tenma, who is also a big baka, cant really appreciate her as the main character. Also I am rooting for a Harima-Yakumo pair so I want a plot more focused on them. Another thing I don't like is the plot. It is so messy, actually the title suits the plot, its a rumble. and most of the pairings are messed-up too, or one-sided. for a romantic comedy it is not even funny and sweet, just frustrating..
IMHO, this should be a shoujo, if not then it should be more focused on harima. Again I just cant understand the fuss over this manga..
At first it was all comedy but then there came a little more "serious" romance into the picture. Some may say that this is a bad thing but i like it better this way And Haruma X Eri all the way
Humor's gone downhill. Story's gone way up. Depends on which one you like, for me I'd rather the author stick with humor, since these characters were not meant for multi-dimensional storyboards.
