Description
From Vices and Devices:

Bright and early one Monday morning, Shino Yuzuru asks Seryou Touji out on a lark when they run into each other at the school gate. Seryou, who's immensely popular, has the odd habit of going out with anyone who asks him out first at the beginning of the week, then promptly dumping them at the end of it.

"Anyone" apparently includes male upperclassmen like Shino, and as a boyfriend, Seryou is perfect--unfailingly thoughtful and kind. Shino, obviously, has no intention of being in a serious relationship with Seryou. It's not like it's actually love or anything like that. ...Right?

i am definitely one of the many people who "normally don't read shounen-ai" and by normally i mean... well, never - i never read them. but the art and everything about this was 5 by 5 and it makes me want to gush on and on about it - but i wont so just read it ^O^

Just loved it!

It was short but so sweet. I loved how the characters didn't already have some sort of one-sided love or anything like that at the beginning. At the beginning of the week they started going out but it wasn't all lovey-dovey but they just got along naturally and ended up falling in love. Plus I like how there was a reason for the one week dating, it wasn't just a game but he was actually trying.

I just loved it, I can't explain it well enough. It was short and sweet. Just give it a chance.

I like this story, but I really can't say "It's the best thing ever!" I mean, everyone seems to love it...so I wonder why I don't notice anything particularly special about it?

And before all the fan-girls tell me to "Go back to reading the smutty yaoi you love so much, you b****!" - I must make it clear that I hate yaoi - I prefer my BL to be as chaste as possible. The best thing about Seven Days is just that; it's very pure and sex-less (the main reason I kept reading through to the end).
But while it's certainly true that they don't fall in love at first sight, I also find it pretty inexplicable why they fell for each other at all. And the whole premise of "I'll date anyone who asks me out" is beyond weird; not to mention something that should definitely have caused a lot of trouble for Seryou. But in this case, instead of being labeled as an oddball and hated by all the other guys in the school (as well as by at least a few of the girls he rejected), everyone treats it as being entirely normal!

Also, despite pining for his brother's girlfriend for a long time, Seryou doesn't seem to have any problem blowing her off the moment he starts going out with Yuzuru. For a guy who has been forever convinced he's straight, that's a pretty strange course of action to follow, if you ask me.
I'm not dumb enough to expect logical actions from characters in a BL manga, but this is just...too illogical.

Another bad thing; in an attempt to make the characters seem extremely pure, I feel that most of their personalities have disappeared into nothingness. Yuzuru is a rather boring person in general...or maybe he's just supposed to be that way?

The art is okay -- nothing special. Like in most shounen-ai manga, it's very simple and obviously hastily drawn with little attention to background details. But it isn't unpleasant and accomplishes its purpose well.

I've only pointed out the faults in the series because all the other comments have reiterated its positive aspects many times over. I felt there needed to be some balance; because this is better than 98% of the trashy c**p we call BL, but still doesn't deserve to be named 'the most perfect example of the genre'.

Seven Days is sweet and chaste - but I can't understand why it's the highest-rated shounen-ai manga on the MU database. In my opinion, the nicest, purest and most endearing BL story so far scanlated is Golden Days - which definitely deserves more fanfare than this one seems to be getting.

The only complaint I really have for this manga is that it feels like a setup. It's a great setup and I didn't notice it first time through, but reading it again (this time without stops for months on end since I owned the real thing!) I realized that everything seemed very deliberately planned and really, there doesn't seem to be much of a reason for them to fall in love with each other, at least not that quickly. But don't let this comment affect your enjoyment of this series! I just wanted to throw out my opinion. I think it could be rectified if the story was a bit longer... Alas, the woe of shounen-ai manga, they are too short and thus leaves not enough time for character development! This is definitely one of the better ones out there.

The Titanic of BL

Everytime I read this I feel the urge to scream out KYA~~!!
The story is built around the misunderstandings and confusion cause by the characters' reluctance to say things straightforward. Although that is common and cliche in shounen-ai, I can actually feel it when the characters pull back slightly. Or just about to burst out but holds back in fear of rejection, humiliation. The theme around the "seven days" time limit was quite interesting and entertaining. As the days progress, you can feel the tension rising like a time bomb. I would read this and feel like a week passed.

I'm not particularly fond of the art. Generally it is satisfactory. Sometimes Yuzuru's hair volume is just outrageous. (Seryou is perfect though) Not my favourite, but very suited for the story and a distinct style. I must say I loved the way Seryou was drawn in Volume 1 Chapter 5.2 page 6. CHOU KAWAII.

Overall these two volumes gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. AND A STRONG YEARNING FOR MORE~~!! Definitely yes for all BL fans. I also recommend reading the manga while listening to the drama cd.

it's interesting that so many people love this who "normally don't read shounen-ai". i normally do read and like BL of all kinds, and you know what? it completely doesn't matter to me for this manga; it is a work of art no matter what the genre. and it's way cool to see great art transcend people's prejudices.

i'm afraid if i try to describe it that this special feeling i have right now will dissipate, so i won't say a lot -- just that it is a perfect manga in that the writing and the art enhance each other; there is so much that lies between the lines of text instead of being spelled out. this isn't normally an art style over which i would wax rhapsodically, but it fits the story so very well i can't imagine anything better.

i want more from the authors.

i used to be so against reading any yaoi / shounen ai related mangga, but this opened my eyes. i mean, its one of the very few manga that made me cry. i highly suggest you read it, even if you may be against homos. the plot, characters, everything makes it complete. if you havent read it, read it NOW. this is a touching story about two men and one relationship.

Its like candy...short, sweet and just plain yummy. Its a wonderful read, the plot just flow like water. The artwork is gorgeous. As a critique, there are some bumps on the plot, but overall...i highly recommend it to anyone. Its a story that will just make you melt, and smile for the rest of the day.
