I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for this! 😲 Just in case there is and I just didn't see it, please tell me 😀
What is the best yaoi you've read? 🙂 I'm not really sure about my absolute favorite, but I have many that I just love!<3
Kimi ga Koi ni Ochiru
Maniakku ni Aishite
Bukiyou na Silent
Denkou Sekka Boys
Koi Cha no Osahou
Honey Boys Spiral
Junk!Boys
Kohitsuji Hokaku Keikaku
Little Butterfly
Love Neco
Soba ni Oitene
The Tyrant Who Fall In Love
Ano Kado Wo Magatta Tokoro
Cut
Sono Toki Heart wa Nusumareta
Seven
Dear Myself
Fake
Kiss Scandal
Akuma no Himitsu
Akuma no Sasayaki
Croquis
Saihate no Kimi e
Rin!
Wish on a Star
Yuigon
Skincream de Nurashite
Tonari no Heya no Paranoia
As you can see (sort of anyway), most of these manga come from the same authors: Takanaga Hinako, Minami Haruka, Sakuragi Yaya...If I like a manga's style and art I tend to check out other works done by the same author 😃
I keep looking this list over, to see if I can take any of them out (so it won't be so long), but I just can't! All these stories are just so amazing! 😃
Anyway, so yeah, anyone have a favorite or one they think is the best? 😕

A lot of yaoi is too unrealistic to tickle my fancy, but I love the more realistic stories that don't just depict the sex for its own sake. Rather, the characters must have understandable personalities that I can relate to, and the plot must be engaging. Actually, those are my tastes no matter what I'm reading -- yaoi, seinen or josei! My preference is always for substance rather than smut. 🙂
Anything by Miyamoto Kano, Takaguchi Satosumi, Yoshinaga Fumi and Honma Akira generally suits my tastes.
My favorite titles by each of these mangakas are:
- Not Love by Miyamoto Kano
- Shout Out Loud by Takaguchi Satosumi
- The First Class in Civil Law by Yoshinaga Fumi
- The Judged by Honma Akira
All of these titles have been licensed, yay! Go out and buy 'em!
Oh, and there's an unlicensed manga that I really like, even though it's very brutal. In my opinion, it's one of the most intelligent and thought-provoking (and sexy!) yaoi stories out there. It's very dark, sort of like a yaoi version of Lord of the Flies.
- Rika the Breeder by Motoni Modoru
Another mangaka that produces very realistic yaoi is Nishida Higashi. The art isn't very polished, but the stories are jewels.
Kunieda Saika also has awesome stories. Some of them are overly dramatic or comedic, but they're generally more well-developed than most yaoi plots. They make me feel the characters' emotions very deeply.
I hope these recommendations were of help! My tastes are somewhat -- uncommon -- since I don't like the work of artists like Minami Haruka.

I have basically the same demands on yaoi as any other genre, there should be a decent story, solid art, good characterization and preferably a sense of realism.
Favorite mangaka/works are:
- Miyamoto Kano (sober and beautiful art)
- Takaguchi Satosumi (her 'Yononaka wa Bokura ni Amai' is utter crack)
- Naono Bohra's works (beautiful art and intriguing characters)
- Youka Nitta's works (for the art and porn 😉 ), though I don't really like her stories.
The occasional doujinshi:
- 'A Temporizing Impression' by RURU Death Note (I laughed until I was crying, this is wonderful crack)
- 'Off Limits' by ? [FMA]
- PoT Doujinshi by Sakura Sakuya
However, I'm not really a regular yaoi reader because I don't like when one
of the characters is really 'uke-fied' so I tend to look for those
stories where both men are more 'butch', thus I have a rather love-hate relationship with the genre.

I haven't many yaoi... yet, but I would go more with one that is visually stimulating. I like on of them to be "uke", but not too much. Butch is okay but also, not too much. The ones I liked reading were:

She's one of my favourites too, her artwork's so beautiful! That might seem stupid but I also love how she can perfectly draw animals. And she's got a wicked sense of humor. 😀
And like some others, when I like a mangaka I tend to read as many of his/her work as I can find.
Among my favorites are Kodaka Kazuma (even if it took me some time to get used to her drawing style), Kusatta's sooo sweet!
Crimson Spell and the Viewfinder series by Yamane Ayano are gorgeous.
Takashima Kazusa's artwork is gorgeous too, and I even like her shoujo series. Plus it's stupid (yes it IS a compliment as I like it when they don't take themselves too seriously).See If dogs could also walk.
And of course anything by Minami Haruka.
All of this doesn't even cover one third of my favorites.
The tyrant who fall in love is a must read too. As well as Koi cha no osahou.

You'd probably like Hand Which, the stories and the artstyle are both great 😃

So long as they have a very good plotline, I'll read any shounen-ai or yaoi, though I like the more realistic ones the best (I'm not into the the smuttier ones either). My favourtie ones are Yume no Kodomo, Little Butterfly, Yellow and silver diamond . These were the ones that I really got into because of the good stories and plot each had

I've watched the Gravitation anime and ova and loved it! And I started Only the Ring Finger Knows, but I dunno where I can finish it. I've been watching it on Youtube, which is really troublesome. Any help?
I might read some more. But is there a site where I can read them? I know Manga Volume and AnimeMangaFun (which isn't very good in my opinion). And that's pretty much it.
Yay yaoi!!
~My best friend and I might start a Yaoi myspace sometime. Not sure yet, but we talked about it for like a minute. So if it does happen, I'll post it under General!! ^^ ~

The most romantic yaoi I've read is Only the Ring Finger Knows by Kannagi Satoru and Hotaru Odagiri.
I really love it so much I can't wait for the 4th volume of the novel. This is the first yaoi I've read that exudes the theme of 'love is love without questioning the sexuality'. Yuichi and Wataru doesn't give an aura that they're gay... in a way, they just responded to the feeling of love regardless of their sexuality. You get the idea...
Read the spoiler from the 3rd volume of the novel to further explain... if you like =3
Shohei,Kazuki's big brother, thought that if Wataru and Kazuki were to break up, it doesn't mean that Yuichi will continue having relationships with guys. Another thing is that Masanobu also fell for Wataru but Masnobu is not even gay and has a relationship with a girl in the past as proof. It only goes to show that they responded to love regardless of gender.
In terms of manga... Saihate no Kimi e by Haruka Minami. It's so sad and so 'smexy'. I just hope that Minami-san writes more works like this.

A lot of Yaoi out there really is butchered by really unrealistic plots and bland character designs. Stuff by Haruka Minami really makes me wince.
I do like Homerun Ken though. My favorite by her is "I want to become your bird." Even though it is very unrealistic at times, I really love how freaking cute it is! I also really like Yamada Yugi, her characters are so charming, especially in "Ore wa Warukunai."
Yeah....aahh. I sound a bit like a hypocrite don't I?

just as long as the dudes are cute, it gets my vote. I should say more like that devious looking type but pretty, not too much that he looks like a girl. and as long as the dudes arent weak. I just hate that! Ita likw get some balls dude and do something. Heh, yeah I get flustered very easily.
I don't use "bad" words, I use SENTENCE ENHANCERS.
