Japan, stop overplaying the arrogant, dominating male leads. Let's switch it up for once. roll eyes

I'm looking for a romance manga where the male isn't some arrogant, dominating dickhead. The one that always pushes the girl to the wall and says "you belong with me, bitch" makes me want to snap. Or the, "you're a woman, so you're totally weak against me" guys.
Basically, a manga that isn't 89% of the romance manga population. A male lead that's sweet, and actually a gentleman.

Or, a female lead that doesn't fall in love with a dickhead. The females in this say "sorry... I fell in love with a beast" bitch pls, you're not sorry. I don't want her all submissive, and blushing every time he says something insulting or harasses her. I'd rather she gave him a real kick in the balls for that instead, without blushing at the same time doing that.
I want her to wipe her own ass, and preferably stronger then the male.

I've read some mangas where the girl is strong, but ends up being a maid for him?? Nooooope, none of that shit
I don't want her bowing down to a jerkwad male lead. I rather SHE won for once instead. Or the dude pays for her like a cheap being, nooooope to that too.

So in short, I'm asking for the impossible. Thanks!! x shy eyes

These may not be quite what you are looking for, and perhaps you've already read some of them, but:

Salty Studio - Korean webtoon, with a slow romance between a rather passive guy with low aspirations, and a bossy girl who agrees to teach him art if they can share his apartment as a studio. It's also kind of a comedy.

Fukuyadou Honpo This one has multiple romances, but I'm specifically thinking of the Arare/Kenji romance. She's a very bossy woman who likes to gamble and drink, and he's a steady guy who kind of... waits for her. I'm not sure it's quite what you want, but it might be close.

Palace Meidi Only two chapters out now, but I saw some comments on a manga site where a reader was wondering if it was a yaoi--and thought the girl was the seme, I guess. XD The first chapter is a bit unclear about the heroine's gender. It's about a boy who works as an attendant to a female emperor. Kind of a total reverse of the usual palace trope about the mysterious royal hero and the naive young heroine. The younger male lead is the protagonist, and she's the one who leans over him in the first chapter.

Unless you're particularly invested in the whole "will they, won't they"/getting together bits common in shoujo romance set in high schools, I would recommend searching for slice-of-life romances (any demographic) instead. Those tend to have soothing atmospheres, so dickhead male leads are often not involved.

Some recommendations:
Akai Mi Hajiketa, a collection of sweet slice-of-life romances.
Akatokisei Residence, slice-of-life romance. With aliens.
Aozora Kirai no Usotsuki Semiko, a love story between a boy and a girl who claims to be a cicada.
Coulomb Fille, a love story between a lonely boy and a lonely girl. Also, electricity. Literally. Yoshizuki Kumichi is known for their sweet stories, generally. I also recommend Magi no Okurimono if you're interested.
Futari no Renai Shoka, that one oft-recommended older woman, younger man romance series. If you enjoyed this, I also recommend The Ancient Magus' Bride, though that one's more focused on magic than romance.
Horimiya, slice-of-life romance with a strong (very literally) female lead. The only other way I can think to describe this is that Miyamura (her boyfriend) always looks so overwhelmed...
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha., I was originally going to stick to romance-focused series, but this one is too cute to pass up. A cute romance series about a girl learning to become comfortable in her own skin, and using her own power to get the guy she likes to notice her. (Along with lots of Shinto gods. Yes.)
Isshuukan Friends., though the romance is very much superseded by the friendship aspects.
Itoshi no Karin, a sweet romance series. Notable because it's told from the guy's point of view while still being incredibly fluffy.
Kamichu!, a cute slice-of-life series in which a girl suddenly wakes up to find herself a god.
Mizutama Honey Boy, surprisingly well executed reversed gender roles. Both of the main characters appreciate the other's strengths and compensate for their weaknesses.
Ootagawa Junjou Lovers, a very traditional shoujo romance, executed well. The girl is the persistent one, in this case. I'm also enjoying the mangaka's ongoing Haru x Kiyo.
Seishun Kouryakuhon, slice-of-life high school romance. Ah, youth! If you're interested in slow-moving, mildly fantastical, slice-of-life romance, I would also recommend her Akagami no Shirayukihime.
Shuukan Shounen Girl, a collection of trippy romances full of symbolism.
Story of Someone We Know, slice-of-life romance centered on three female friends.
unTOUCHable (Massstar), the female lead is a vampire who ends up falling for a human. Really enjoyable because of how well the two leads work together. The love rival, though, is honestly a bit irritating. (And he's exactly the "arrogant, condescending" type too. Oops.)

There are also a few other sweet romances such as Yumekuri, Hadi Girl, etc. that I hesitate to recommend because they're also a bit fanservice-y. (Though definitely the former more than the latter.) And also stuff like Hatsukiai and Hajiotsu. which are innocuous and fluffy but also really, really slow, romance-wise.

Oh, and comedy stuff like Kaguya wants to be confessed to and Rike ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumeishitemita, though I'm not sure if those are exactly what you're looking for...

Finally, if you're interested in the "arrogant guy being brought down to size," Takane to Hana is pretty great. All the while without, you know, treating the male lead too badly.
