I don't really have any reccommendations, but if you're going to read shounen-ai you might as well read yaoi too and "suffer through the sex scenes". Its the same thing as shounen-ai if you skip them. Though I can understand your thinking, I thought the same but then realised it didn't matter and by refusing to read yaoi I was limiting my potential reading material.

Although some yaoi are pretty much focused on the sex and leave out any real romance parts.

my fave is probably Kusatta Kyoushi no Houteishiki
as for the art, probably not the best in the first few volumes. later vols it got better however I think it might be one of those where you either like it or not. I still recommend it tho, it's one of the few mangas that I actually re-read a couple time ^_^

Bokura ni Matsuwaru Etcetera - a one-volume manga containing 3/4 short stories. Purely shounen-ai with no yaoi. The stories are nice, too.
Otona no Mondai - I can't recommend this one enough. About a guy whose parents divorced after his father came out. A significant part of the story focuses on the father's relationship with his lover. No sex scenes.
Gengetsurou Kitan - shounen ai combined with comedy, horror and the supernatural.
Itsutsu no Hako no Monogatari - compilation of short stories.
A Night of a Thousand Dreams - Manhwa. A twist on the classic Arabian Night tales.
Banana Fish - a classic.
Chou ni Naru Hi - compilation of short stories.
Yami no Matsuei - about shinigamis.
Tenshi no Kokoro de - highly recommended. Deals with criminals and the yakuza, but the hero is an ordinary household keeper.
Seven Days - Monday→Thursday

Anything by Yoshinaga Fumi - her famous shonen-ai-without-the-yaoi works include the famous Antique Bakery and Kinou Nani Tabeta? (a slice-of-life story about a gay couple and their culinary exploits 😀 ).

A lot of works by Ima Ichiko are also shounen-ai without the yaoi. I highly recommend her(?) works as well.

And definitely read Okujou Fuukei, but only the first story, which goes for 7/8 chapters. That's the only shounen-ai story in that one volume collection. The other stories are yaoi, but the first story is fantastic.

Or, you could always do a genre search and include shounen-ai as a search time but exclude yaoi. There are a lot of results.

Then a manga (manwha) you won't probably like is Let Dai since it's full of drama and some tragedies. But I have to say, it's probably my most favourite romance manga/manwha of all time (series wise). Honestly, the art is gorgeous becuase it has this realistic tone to it and just the writing, the prose, it's so amazing. And their love is just one of the most intense relationships I have seen in romance (If you thought RenxNana from Nana was intense, then you have to read Let Dai.

Anyways, I know it's not what your looking for, but I just HAD to recommend it. When you're okay with tradedy, please read it!

What you do kinda want:

Little Butterfly : a pretty cute story about this outcast in class and this outgoing boy.

Bukiyou na Silent : aww. Same author as above. This one is about a guy who is asked out by a guy he really likes, but he can't express his feelings well (however, there are these little inside though faces that he makes that is sooo cute. Ah, a must read!

Croquis Again, same author. Again, it's really cute. Just read.

Silver Diamond: fantasy-ish. Has definate plot, and it's not really shonen ai until the second book.

Arashi no Ato : lovely little volume. Theres something about it that makes me love it A LOT. It's kind of a quiet story, not that much comedy, but it's one of my favourites. Anything by this author is good:

Café Latte Rhapsody I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this manga. A little silly couple. SO CUTE!!! And although they do it, you don't really see anything, so it's safe =)

Complex: pretty amazing manga. Not saying it's the best, but it's one of those manga's where you see the characters growth through out it. Seriously, it begins from when they were kids in elementary school to far off ages (I don't want to say to how far off since it may spoil something). Really, this is a book about love, sorrow, growing up, happiness, the ups and downs, the trials one has to go through to live life.

Self Portrait: hehe. This is about a guy dating a yaoi fangirl who tries to pair him up with a photographer. xD

And I second Loveless, Demon Diary (at least first half), and CLAMP since they have a lot of shonen ai themes (but it's not exactly noticable, such as KuroFai form TRC) and you can be garanteed for having plot. Maybe you'll recognize some of these:

  • X
  • Cardcaptors Sakura
  • Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
  • Tokyo Babylon
  • Wish (angels and demons don't have a gender =) )
  • RG Veda

But Clamp doesn't outright state that they're a couple, you kinda just have to figure it out.

And when you're more comfortable with yaoi:
Chintsubu Funniest s---- EVER!!! (in the genre) The concept is REALLY weird, and I was sooo grossed out when reading the description so I didn't want to give it a try. But OH MY GOD, was I wrong. It is the funniest thing I've read for a while. There isn't really scenes when their doing it, but when "they" talk, you see them. Of course, they're aren't drawn like they're suppose to. Actually, the way "they're" drawn is really cute ( I think ). You'll understand who "they" is when you read it.

Just try to get to at least the 2nd chapter. It's just so funny. I'm sorry I can't get a shonen ai as funny as this. But it is really funny...

Edit~ adding some more:

How could I forget Only the Ring Finger Knows 😕 Honestly! It's one of my favourite shonen-ai's ever! Go Read!

Rin Mmm, this is pretty safe as well. Another highschool story. (same author as above but different artist)

My Precious Ahh! Same artist as OtRFK but dif author (well, the artisit is author) I LOVE this story very much as well. Total shonen-ai, very sweet.

Also by the author as above: Sayonara no Riyuu . Collection of one shots. I just love her drawing style.

And I second Wild Adapter. Even though it's not exactly Shonen ai, they relationship is very.... interesting. Great plot.

Totally Captivated is Shonen Ai? 😕 it has blow jobs, forced sex in bed room and etc, I guess you have to give it the credit, it is Yaoi! 😀

however, I don't like Shounen Ai that much since i am more into hardcore stuff but the only good Shounen Ai that I can recommend which has a good and beautiful art plus a developed story line is Demian Syndrome

I second demian syndrome.
Jadou - Tenmou Yatan (same mangaka)
Every shounen ai by sahara mizu / yumeka sumomo. They are mostly bittersweet. I love them though.

Tsukiya Is pretty, with not much BL so fur... And only 3 chapters done so far. Full color if I remember correctly.

Wild Adapter Very good, one of my favorite. Doesn't focus much on them being lovy-dovy though.

Minase Masara has good shounen-ai. But mostly yaoi~

Sono Yubi Dake ga Shitteiru : Only the Ring Finger Knows. A very cute/dramatic and pretty shounen-ai.

Uncontrol oneshot. Quite nice.

Na mo Naki Tori no Tobu Yoake Is a very good read with simpely amazing art.
Everything else by kisaragi hirotaka is really good, too. (yaoi mostly, though). Same mangaka of Tsukiya.

Hope you'll enjoy^^

I know, but, what i'm trying to say is that i didnt want options like [Brother](http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=2326) <<< pure porn! 🤢 they were not even cute!! **>.>**

thats why i mentioned im reading Totally Captivated(and i love it), cz even with the sex scence and the blow job XD lol u dont see every single detail of what they are doing... and/or that u can see other things besides just Sex.

its ok the yaoi but not one where they only fu%& each others XD

i'm reading some of the options and are really good ^_^
