New Poll - Webcomics

This week, I'm repeating a poll that we did in 2011. The number of webcomics has increased tremendously over the years, so has public opinion on them shifted?

Previous Poll Results
Question: What do you think about series names that are really long, i.e., have a lot of words?

It's okay if there's a commonly used abbreviation (e.g., WataMote or Oreimo) - votes: 1213 (31.4%)
Don't really like them, but I guess I'll deal with it - votes: 896 (23.2%)
The longer the better! - votes: 107 (2.8%)
Don't care - votes: 981 (25.4%)
Long title are horrible and are hard to remember and say - votes: 664 (17.2%)

I feel humans tend to like shorter names. It's like when you give a person a nickname. Usually it's shorter than their real name!

New Poll - Long Titles

This week's poll was suggested by vivant. Did you notice that recently there's been an increase in length of some series titles, especially isekai? Two examples are I'm a Middle-Aged Man Who Got My Adventurer License Revoked, but I'm Enjoying a Carefree Lifestyle Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now and No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!. What's your opinion about that?

We are currently experiencing problems with the site sending emails. This makes it impossible for a new user to register for an account, and existing users will not be able to recover a forgotten password.

For anyone that wants assistance, please email me at lambchopsil ____@t mangaupdates.com. (If you can't figure out the correct email address from that, then too bad.)

We will give an update once the issue has been resolved.

New Poll - Sequel of an Ongoing Series

This week's poll was suggested by jacob66. I can't actually think of an actual example of this right now, but what do you think of an ongoing series (meaning it's not finished yet) that has a sequel coming out already? I presume the sequel takes place in the far future, because that's pretty weird if it wasn't. But if you know of any examples of this, comment below!

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Favorite thing about a scanlation's credit page
Choices:
Translation notes - votes: 914 (34.7%)
Comedy from the scanlators - votes: 1205 (45.7%)
Group news - votes: 113 (4.3%)
Original artwork - votes: 307 (11.6%)
The credits - votes: 98 (3.7%)
There were 2637 total votes.
The poll ended: May 11th 2019

Looks like people appreciate comedy. But keep in mind that we've done 2 polls in the past about scanlator April Fools' jokes and fake releases, and the majority of people either hate them, find them annoying, or straight up ignore them.

New Poll - Credit Pages

This week's poll was suggested by jacob66. Pretty self-explanatory.

Previous Poll Results:
Question: When you see other people recommending series to each other (such as the I'm Looking For... forum) but you're not original questioner, do you read the series that are suggested?
Choices:
Nah, I'll only pay attention if I'm the one that asked for a recommendation - votes: 126 (4.8%)
Sometimes or seldom, as they don't always suit my tastes - votes: 1815 (69.3%)
All the time! So many hidden jewels! - votes: 679 (25.9%)
There were 2620 total votes.
The poll ended: May 4th 2019

Not a very popular poll. I think many people misunderstood my mention of the "I'm Looking For..." forum as part of the question rather than just an example of the question.

New Poll - 3rd Party Recommendations

The scenario spelled out by our member vivant is specific and is as follows. You're the 3rd party observer, and you see other people giving series recommendations to each other, such as in our I'm Looking For... forum (in case you didn't know that existed). Do you ever end up reading those series that are recommended, even though you weren't the original person asking for a suggestion? Any hidden gems that you've discovered that you'd like to share?

Previous Poll Results:
Question: When a scanlator leaves a customized message at the end of each chapter (e.g., commentary, next release date, questions, etc.; excluding regular credit or recruitment page) do you read them and/or respond to them?

Never seen them - votes: 69 (2.1%)
Sometimes - votes: 1664 (50.1%)

Wow, the majority of you do look at them at least sometimes!
