This week's poll is from our member icassop. In general, what kind of book person are you? By the way, manga falls within books. Do you perhaps lean toward one side? Personally, I'm an avid reader. I love the high fantasy epics like Wheel of Time or Game of Thrones. I try to take care of my books though. No creasing the spines or underline words.

Judging from the last time we ran this poll, we have less people scanlating now..
As suggested by Sapphiresky, we haven't done a similar poll since late 2005 (before we had weekly polls)! Back then, we had these results:
Question: Are you part of a scanlation team?
Choices:
Yes - votes: 486 (14.6%)
I want to be! - votes: 1163 (34.8%)
No - votes: 1691 (50.6%)

Let's see what happens this time! For me, I used to be a very active proofreader and QCer, but I haven't done anything in the last 5-ish years. College makes you very busy... MU is the only contribution I make to the scene nowadays.
Edit, as Sapphiresky just pointed out to me, we actually did this back in 2009 also:
Question: Do you work in scanlations?
Choices:
Yes, and I love it - votes: 837 (9.3%)
Yes, and I hate my life - votes: 236 (2.6%)
No, but I'd like to - votes: 4430 (49.3%)
No, and I don't want to - votes: 2288 (25.5%)
I used to, but not anymore - votes: 760 (8.5%)
I'm just here to hand out C&Ds - votes: 436 (4.9%)

Oh, how the world has changed in the last few years, for good or for ill
This week's poll deals with a perhaps touchy subject: aggregate sites. Our member kayue was the one who suggested this one. For now, how often do you use them for your manga fix? Notice I'm not making a distinction between which sites. That's perhaps a later poll (big "maybe" there)

Well, if I broke down that last option between people living in the US vs. people who didn't, then perhaps we'd get some more answers? Who knows...
This week's poll is from our admin lynira. It deals with manga magazines that usually have single chapters of many different series. Could be something like Newtype, Shounen Jump, or Otaku USA (to list some English ones in the US). Or maybe you got some Japanese magazines? Magazines have been on the decline for years now, but hey, what's wrong with a poll about it?

Malcolm Gladwell has stated that you need 10,000 hours to become an expert at something. This equates to about 20 hours a week for 10 years. If you could live forever, you'd have the chance to become an expert at so many things! Or you could take the wildest concoction of drugs without any regrets...
This week's poll from MewMan is about your choices in mortality. Yes, there's a difference between immortality and invincibility. Or perhaps you'd prefer being a regular person? MewMan originally suggested this poll because Blade of the Immortal had just been completely scanlated.

It was up to your interpretation of the question of whether you'd gain the powers of the world you joined. Still, most would wanna try it out! It would kinda suck though to live as a normal person in a world filled with magic...
This week's poll by lovelykitty6669 is a little long-winded, but I'm not quite sure how to shorten it and keep the same meaning. If your favorite manga (or anime, I guess) character from your favorite series appeared in front of you and gave you a chance to live in his/her world, but the catch is that you can never come back to the real world again, would you do it? Post a comment below about which series this happens to be and why you'd do it or not do it!

Less responses than the manga version, but that's to be expected since this is a manga site. However, it still appears that many people safe their fansubs, despite having much larger file sizes than manga.
As our member tactics suggested, it's a similar poll as last week's but with anime fansubs. In my case, I actually haven't watched anime in maybe the last 6 years... But I did archive a lot of the shows I did watch back then. Still got all the episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura on CD, 4 episodes per CD (didn't have blank DVDs back then). Awesome manga and anime, by the way, so I would recommend getting it if you don't mind a little old-school stuff.

Goes to show the prevalence of online reader sites
This week's poll is from icassop. Which choice most fits you in terms of your scanlation habits? For myself, I actually used to archive everything I read, but that changed about 6 years ago when I had a hard drive failure that wiped out my collection. After that, I just got cynical and depressed about it, so I never tried to archive a bunch of stuff again. It's now a mix of read then delete or some stuff via online readers.

Wow, pretty close results! 4 of the choices were fairly close together! And coincidentally, most of the books I've read as a kid are in one of those top 4 time periods
This week's fun poll was suggested by our member lokix666. If you were going to create a protagonist (or maybe you ARE that protagonist) and you could time travel, which time period would you choose/prefer? Not an exhaustive list, but it should do for most!

Ya, some of these overlap, but oh well. But ya, I do consider romancing a childhood friend to be cute. I wonder how often it happens in real life...
This week's poll is from FormX, who apparently took it from EveTaku... But in any case, of the choices given, which would you rather see the main character of a romance series pursue? Not an exhaustive list and some of the choices sort of overlap, but oh well. Just for fun!

Maybe I should have split the upper tier even more. My initial reasoning was because 40 hours is the typical work week for many people. I guess you would spend more time with a hobby than a job. Or perhaps all those people don't have jobs or are students...
