Plot/Story
Kamui Shirou is a young man that returning to Tokyo after his mother's death. He is looking for a special sword guarded by an old friend. Suddenly, he finds himself in a secret war. Worse, Kamui finds out that HE is the one they were waiting for. He is the one who can choose the destiny of the world.
But the story goes far, far from it.
Characters
X has plenty of envolving characters. They are essentially separated in two sides: those who want to change the world by destroying the modern society (called the Angels, or the Dragons of Earth) and those who want to protect us (called the Seals, or the Dragons of Heaven).
The complexity of the characters, althought, comes with the analogies surrounding them. Almost all characters have an Tarot card representing him - this representation is made by the card numerology, symbol and concept.
Other interesting fact of the characters is the crossovers. X happens at the same scenario as CLAMP Campus Detective, Tokyo Babylon and others CLMAP's mangas. Also has some characters of these series, such as Subaru , Hokuto, Akira, etc.
It's a pretty collection of real good characters!
Drawing Style
CLAMP usually draws and effects. Certainly you willl find good looking men and tiny sweet girls (exceptions do exist, though). And plenty of special shining images and out of space pin-ups! Some love it. Few hate it. If you will read any CLAMP manga, get used to it.
Also we have the severe flaw (in my opinion) of CLAMP: movement. They defnetly aren't the ne on drawing the characters "dancing"! Even though, their action scenes are real good, due to the special effects and positions.
Enjoyment
X has very complex story and plots. You will enjoy seing the destiny of the characters, how the story envolves and the intrigating dialogues.
Hah! And lots of fights, loves, misteries and sudden revelations!
Overall
This is the CLAMP masterwork. every god thing you expect from them can be found in X. It's crossovers, relations with Tarot and other misteries and it's unforgettables characters create a complete scenario designed to be an epic saga.
