Plot/Story
The plot of this manhwa demonstrates that if you constantly confess your love for a person, which you really like, but at the same time do not explain to your beloved what you love him for, then this may be regarded by your loved one as completely inadequate behavior, and may begin to greatly annoy him (her). Jia just succumbed to the charm of that skin, meat, bones and hair, of which (not by divine providence?) Yuna's beautiful body consists, however, when they both talked about the reason for her (Jia's) love for her (Yuna) , then their lesbian relationship almost collapsed, for Yuna obviously realized that some abnormal girl had stalked her, for whom (for Jia) her (Yun's) visual image means more than the structure of her soul. And this made her very painful, because she had already suffered once because the person whom she fell in love with, in fact, was not interested in her soul - he was attracted only by her beautiful young body. Yuna is completely disappointed in life, behaves somehow passively and distractedly in communication and in every possible way tries to demonstrate her contempt for any joys in the life of a Korean schoolgirl. However, Jia's stubborn and persistent attraction to Yuna suddenly makes her feel that maybe at least Jia is finally interested in her (in Yuna) soul? Having got to know her better, Yuna realizes that Jia is a generally confused and stupid person, but when she needs to show her best side, Jia shows such humanity and desire for success that touches her girlish heart, broken by male cruelty. And once, feeling that Jia wants to be with her more and more often and that she (Jia) is attracted to her (to Yuna) more and more, Yuna finally trusts her and reciprocates her ... But, alas, you cannot please everyone, and , as a result of the incipient, first romantic, and then sexual attraction between them, Jia and Yuna accidentally break the hearts of other characters in this manhwa, moreover, within the confusing love polygon where Sana loves Jia, and Dohi falls in love with Sana. However, Sanoo's classmate and roommate, Jaehyuk, suddenly discovers an attraction to one of the characters as well, which coincidentally is also homosexual. All these circumstances make up the dramatic and intense pink-blue plot of this by no means entertaining, but rather instructive manhwa, where all the fates of all the characters are intertwined ... yes, by the very bonds of youth.
Characters
Gia:
Sportswoman! An activist! .. And ugly. Well, as I already wrote, in Gia the author of this manhwa embodied various character traits of a real protagonist: generosity, mercy, friendliness, readiness for work and defense - and many other positive character traits. There is only this particular character, it seems to me, one big drawback: some idiocy and dementia induce her to fall in love with just anyone for no particular reason, and then she suffers and suffers from her falling in love for a long time, almost in a masochistic manner. Jia, of course, is a positive character, but I think she trusts her eyes too much when choosing Yoon as her lover, and this way of natural selection in human society, according to my observations, sometimes leads to a life-long tragedy. Especially considering Yuna's behavior with Jia.
Yuna:
A cold, unsociable beauty, filled with contempt for those around her due to her terrifying romantic experience. The fact that the person whom she fell in love with and whom she confided in was filming his time on a hidden camera is simply beyond good and evil, and even after a long relationship ... Oh, oh, oh: after I found out why she became so cruel, I immediately clearly understood her cool and even irritated attitude towards Jia, Doha and even Sun. For I myself was about the same disappointed in people after several similar cases, when I was repeatedly used in public for the amusement of the public without my consent, and even in the circle of people very close to me. Therefore, dear Yuna of the whole earth, know and remember that you are not alone, and there is one lover of Yuri manhwa from Russia who understands you perfectly. By the way, the scene with the talking teddy bear is very interesting: I would even say that it is some kind of arthouse, such a spectacle can usually be seen in auteur cinema, um. On the one hand, she is one of the most touching, but on the other ... In this very scene, in which Yuna repeatedly encourages the toy bear given to her by Jia to say “I love you,” there is so much vulgarity generated by Western glamor, and so much the absurdity produced by Asian consumer goods, that I felt just extremely creepy from the sensation of what a strange world I live in.
Doha:
An eccentric, hysterical and neurotic psychopath, whom my Russian land also tolerates many ... In my class, I also had such Dohas: they constantly glued to everyone, clung to everyone in a naive hope or to be in the "star dust" of favorites (or favorites) class, or just have fun with an interesting person. Like Doha, they fell into terrible outrage and severe depression when they were refused reciprocity or if they were completely rejected. Such girls usually keep secrets poorly, are very attached to people they like and willingly give up their opinions in favor of the opinions of their chosen ones. I, of course, despise Russian fiction for the fact that it brought to power all those terrible people who cruelly and selfishly ruled my country all these years, but, nevertheless, "Darling" from the fiction book of the Russian writer Chekhov somehow incomprehensibly resurrected in the work of this author of the manhwa in the person of the character Doha. In general, I do not feel sorry for Doha at all: she herself caused numerous reasons for all her torments and sores due to the fact that she is an overly romantic nature. And today such girls have a place on all kinds of club and party girls' Internet sites (where they deservedly "ride the bulldozer of feminism" for all men in a row, and in some cases they do the right thing), and not in real life, where strict calculation and cold-blooded actions are needed ... I, too, would probably send her away ... If she came to my house and began to scold my beloved woman, with whom she interrupted sex, for the fact that she (my beloved woman) is allegedly with her (at Doha) constantly takes the beloved away. And why this Doha from this author's manhwa is so furious after the loss of every next partner, I do not understand. Well, a "rebellious soul," as one cremation host once said ...
Sanu:
A normal, intelligent, responsible and decent kid, and even the most beautiful human being in this manhwa. He really seems to me to be nicer in appearance than all the other ugly and ugly from this manhwa, even though I am heterosexual. The author of this manhwa muddied the intrigue with him here, not frail, and the ending most likely implies a sequel, and even in a different, more masculine genre. In general, to be honest, he is a poor man, a sufferer. A terrible childhood, hysterical relatives, and even a lustful roommate ... But, nevertheless, like some orphans, deprivation and suffering only tempered him, made him strong and sober. I adore him for the fact that he knows how to tell the truth to every villain. Well done, Sana! He is a real brave civilized Western man.
Jaehyuk:
A good example of the fact that if your classmate gets you, it means that he wants you. In the ... sexual sense of the word. This truth has been known to me since my school days, although, of course, in those days of my suffering school childhood, I still did not really understand this, because the Foundations of Sexual Culture in our school, as we did not have, and still do not. This character is a real bully and a thief. In general, of course, I wonder where he, like a real school bully, spends a heap of money that suddenly fell on him in the amount of hundreds of thousands of won, he-he-he ... Instead of booze, cigarettes or drugs, as it happens here in Russia, he ate tens of thousands of won on ... ice cream! Hah, the funny thing is that he measures monetary amounts in the amount of ice cream. Hmm, our Russian schoolchildren would probably measure such large sums by the amount of all kinds of products that are harmful to the young body of varying severity ... How nice: what a rude bully this Jaehyuk, and he spends the stolen money on sweets. And, yes: many thanks to the Russian translators of this manhwa for not censoring his mate. Thanks to this accuracy of translation, I was able to better understand his emotional state. On top of all that, Jaehyuk is an avid spy on girls. No, he didn’t get to the point of lifting girls' skirts or outright harassment in this manhwa, but the story of his hooliganism with Jia’s letter written by Yun runs like a pink thread throughout this manhwa. The moral of the Jaehyuk storyline in this manhwa is as follows: well, guys, well, keep the right to confidentiality of correspondence and do not read other people's letters if you do not have the authority to do so from the local government - and otherwise ruin the life and fate of other people and you yourself will suffer.
Drawing Style
The background quality: everything is clean, smooth. Homes are like home, not hills or mountains. Nice to see modern Korean interiors and exteriors. The crowd is like a crowd, and not a bunch of nasty colored substance, like the competitors of the author of this manhwa. All sorts of aura gradients are often used, including polygonal-pixel ones, which is clearly done in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw.
The quality of the characters' graphics: almost all the characters are freaks of varying degrees of disgust, with the exception, perhaps, of Sanoo: who was really lovingly drawn. Sanoo is so sleek, so neat ... Obviously, the author of this manhwa just enjoyed the process of drawing him, clearly wanting to support the old tradition of classic American comics, in which absolute goodness is the angelic appearance of good fellows. But Yuna was less fortunate. There is clearly something wrong with her eyes. As the Soviet pop singer Obodzinsky sang: “These eyes are opposite !! What is this, what is this ?? ". Yun has them so huge that they suggest some kind of painful anatomical hypertrophy of her skull. What about her eyelashes! They resemble carnivorous, toothed plants that feed on flies. These are not fictional creatures, such creatures from horror films actually exist even today, they have many varieties, they can even digest a dove. Is this an eerie allusion to Gia from Doha, or what? Well, it's scary to remember Jia's appearance in general - sorry, is this a girl? In my opinion, this is a very feminine young man ... Perhaps, the best characters in this manhwa look during bed scenes and kisses (well, where can we go without it). If any gallery owner collects scenes with lesbian kisses from yuri manhwa (for display at an exhibition, for example), I would give him a recommendation for romantic kisses and hugs from this manhwa, because they look really nice here. The local eroticism somehow smooths out the ugliness of the characters, making them more attractive. And the author of this manhwa very carefully and carefully traced each strand of hair. In some places, the heroines' hair (mainly Yun's) is even shown in separate shots, enhancing the dramatic moments. Yes, the hairiness of the author of this manhwa turns out to be simply luxurious ... I must honestly admit that when Yuna with all her strength pulled Gia by one of her frontal strands, I even felt Gia's pain ... And what a sweet Doha with her cute pigtails on her shoulders and chest - with them she reminds me very much of women in national German costumes, symbolizing the beer Oktober Fest. The clothes also look quite natural: folds, ruffles, patterns - all of them are almost like real ones and somehow make more attractive the ugliest characters in this manhwa, also increasing the attractiveness of already beautiful characters. But the faces of many of them evoke disgust of various strengths. There were no freaks like Jaehyuk even in my school, although they sometimes behaved the same way.
Enjoyment
A poignant plot ... Rough drawing ... Hysterical dialogues ... The extremely pretty beginning of this manhwa does not bode well for any frivolous love story. It seems to me that this manhwa is not for gentle natures looking here for some kind of sweet, kind story about school love, as is often the case with sentimental Japanese. Lovers of lesbian erotica will not find anything particularly exciting here either, for, in this respect, this manhwa is innocent enough. However, those who adore all kinds of hardcore that Korean manhwa is so famous for will be quite satisfied with this piece. There is so much violence, fights, blood and humiliation of human dignity, that after it an unprepared reader may feel a certain depression because of the feeling that the world, as they say, is so cruel. Here, in some places, such blood and such pain (in the physical and mental sense) are depicted that at some point you will think: “why am I so interested in all these stupid girls who themselves do not know what they want from each other? Why do I need this Jia, who cannot explain why she is so madly in love with Yuna? Why do I need this Doha, which, it seems to me, is to blame for all its misfortunes? I'll go and buy something easier and simpler, or, on the contrary, brighter and sweeter ... ". However, as they say in a similar case in Russia, Lezhin does not knit brooms. The value of this manhwa lies precisely in the fact that this is not some beautiful, beautiful love or erotic adventure of two girls, but a serious and even topical literary work about what friendship and enmity, love and hatred, mercy and ... envy are ... Its plot and the events described in it are so universal that they can happen in reality with a probability of 50 to 100 percent in any country of the Western model ... For in civilized countries there are many girls like the heroines of this manhwa, whose romantic female ideas are broken into cruel male reality.
Overall
Despite the ugly faces of most of the characters, I liked the manga. The plot is sharp, the story is about ordinary people from, perhaps, even our environment. There are many instructive and demotivating chapters and moments when it is shown how civilized people should not behave. The ending is not completely unraveled, but, in general, a certain understatement of this manga suits me perfectly. I read it in about 3 weeks. I recommend reading it, but with a reservation on the graphics of the characters.
