Would've been decent without the assault parts.

I enjoyed the bickering superior/subordinate dynamic, as well as the blackmail games between them. Those were lighthearted, for the most part, and would've made for a decent enough plot on their own without needing to introduce a rival. The art's OK, a bit too much on the sketchy side sometimes.

What I didn't enjoy was
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the alley rape scene and Agatsuma forcing himself on Misaki afterwards
. Those parts came out of nowhere and were totally unnecessary, and Kashima should've gone with something less dramatic to ramp up to the confession scene. I'm tired of assault being used as a plot device to lead into a confession.

I really didn't like Mizaki, he's just a jerk at the beginning, also that
<spoiler> dubcon scene in the alley was totally unnecessary.. just like that sexual harassment right after that in the ex'es apartment...</spoiler> they didn't add anything to story and were quite disgusting...that's why I lowered my rating..
Later at least Mizaki started using his brain properly...and Mikado is the sweetest, taking care of other seme❤️

It's okay and everything but I just can't like Anezaki and the way he harassed his subordinate, work him out like slave than call it teasing 🙄 f**k him.
Tbh , he is the only reason I give it a low score

Cute. Entertaining. with the right amount of bitter-sweetness

I'm surprised at the rating honestly.

This is one of my absolute favorites and one of the very few stories that I re-read multiple times. Loves the characters, the art style, the flow of story. The storytelling is satisfying and feels complete that it managed to leave a big impact despite it being very short (which is a huge achievement on its own for the mangaka)

The mix of comedy, drama, romance is perfectly balanced and the story even managed to highlight some important issues and show character's insecurities in an amazing way (again this is only a 5 chapters manga with extras)

I'll never get bored of this story and I'll always re-red it from time to time.

I honestly almost dropped this manga at first because I personally can't stand characters like Anezaki but I'm glad I decided to continue. The characters have just enough depth for a story of only one volume. The way Anezaki's dilemma was told also made me tear up a bit. The story's definitely worth a read.

A Sense of Lacking
by FeyFujoshi

Kashima sensei sure had made tremendous improvement, but her general sense of propriety still remains pretty much the same, if anything it’s gotten smuttier, when it comes to sex-and rape. Still, the fact there has been improvement is something that I will not deny. Besides, the art has become so much more awesome, especially the smut. The dialogues are well done, there is good flow in the story, and the transition from past to present, and between Misaki and Mikado, is smooth without any hiccups at all. Character development is well done, though it is somewhat lacking for Mikado in terms of his past. And, like most people who have commented on this, I concour with them that the whole ex-boyfriend Agatsuma-ploy was jarring and disturbed the flow of an otherwise comedic story. Mainly because this isn’t then properly addressed and just used as a shallow plot device to get Mikado and Misaki together. But otherwise, this is quite an excellent manga.

Awesome love story. Entertaining, funny.

There's so many comments but I still want to say that this story is awesome. It's an office love story with complex plot, fast action, good pace and storytelling. There's just right amount of drama, the background and really nice sense of humour. The characters - office workers - are interesting and likeable, through it will take some time to like all of them; the art is really good and sex is hot. What else do you need to enjoy a yaoi? In addition I didn't found anything annoying in this work. It doesn't happen everyday, heh. I had a lot of fun. I'm gonna read more stories of this mangaka for sure.

If you want a decent story about normal people, without hardcore stuff, with strong plot and some drama it's a perfect choice. You'll finish it in a blink of an eye cause it'll suck you in.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
About some people's bragging - first of all you should distinguish between "being dumped" and "dark past". It's not the same thing. Anezaki was left heartbroken, it doesn't mean he has dark past.

Next is sexual abuse attempt. If it's just an attempt, if nothing really happened then there's no reason for overreacting, unless you're some teenage virgin. An adult gets up and dust himself off and later on an adult drinks alcohol to release the emotions. That's what Anezaki did and this IS realistic way to deal with this kind of mishap. He's a man and he's over thirty. On top of that he was asking for trouble (he was partially at fault) hitting on some stranger in a back alley while being drunk - he tempted that stranger, he wanted to have sex with him, it went wrong only because the stranger had a companion. Considering circumstances it'd be stupid of him to wildly exaggerate. His reaction is completely real-life-like. He got drunk and went to a friend's house to put himself at easy. Where's the nonsense?

A hedgehogs Dilemma story,

I for one really enjoy the story. Nothing out of this world but it doesn’t have to be. The story has been done many times before. A boss and his coworker how don’t really see eye to eye, for good reason however. Mikado who is very likable seems to be getting push around by his boss anezaki and not getting the proper respect he deserves. That’s is until he finds his boss weakness or secret about and uses it against him. For once in my Yaois that I read I actually found blackmail to be done right in this situation. What I didn't expect was the blackmail to end so soon by different situation.

His boss misaki anezaki has good looks and has a strong character like to him but also makes himself a bad person to be around especially to mikado and how he treats him.

The interaction between the characters are fun and enjoyable later on as they come to known their weakness or secrets. It’s excuted whether well bewteen them, as I don’t see the use of blackmail after chapter 2.

I enjoy how in see more of misaki thoughts about how he became about being guy and why he doesn’t want to fall in love with anyone. I found it to be quite realistic as I come to realize there are many people at there who act like him.

I find then rape of alley scene pretty light in my opinion. Misaki was stressing himself out about his ex who comes back to be annoying. Mikado jealously was a little shown but barely and the way he acted seem like him. He already know what misaki does and he was curious about his boss the more they spent time together as he started to see a different side of him. He doesn’t do anything over the top. He kind of accepts it if that were a case as misaki told him how he can’t find that special someone. I also see that mikado begins to worry about him quite a bit throughout the story and even within the sequel. All we see is one panel of it, and having him get saved by his ex which annoyed me. But I knew where this was going.

Chapter 5 got me quite different from I felt from the rest of the story. It was done pretty well especially considering this was only one volume which I despise because how short it was, but the Author seem to give it quite meaty to the story similar to jackass by scarlet. I won’t go into details but it shows the true colors of Misaki personality and how he is on the inside. That he really is a coward how runs away from his happiness because of his past. Or let’s say the hedgehog dilemma.

Usually when it comes to a story I can never really read it again. But for this one I can’t tell you how many times I read it. The story in my not be out of this world. Some of the stuff is predictable and simplistic but has to start somewhere.
I may add.
The author how still new to then mangaka way of writing still has a long way to go to precieve prefection but out of all her works I’ve read this is by far my favorite. I only wish we had more to build the characters more. Even the sequel she wrote got me crying near the end, which is rare for me. I would say this story is for everyone, but if you kind of know what your in for then give it shot.

eh the progression of feelings was pretty predictable. nothing new. it's cute, i guess.

I felt like the rape scene that everyone was referencing wasn't too long to be impacting, but I also felt that it was entirely gratuitous and unnecessary to the plot. in the end, it was all only a vehicle to get anezaki in his ex's apartment and for them to have a proper talk (and more sexual harassment) and then for mikado to get jealous over it. This could have been achieved in a myriad of other ways (also just scrap the jealousy part, that's so overdone), so the writing itself just falls flat for me.

nothing remarkable really about the manga. it's just mediocre.
