About average

I liked it. It moved a little fast (they were already at it in the first chapter), but the artist is always pleasing and the art made up for it.

One thing I didn't like is the ending:

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I have a problem with disability stories where the character is "cured" at the end. Now granted, Kaguya's blindness was caused by an accident and the cure was a legitimate procedure. But his blindness was such an integral part of his incense master identity that it's a shame to get rid of it.

Don't get the high raitings...

The settings were actually quite good but it didn't work out right.

In the end the main couple is quite annoying. Their characters just aren't to my liking. The seme is a real bastard for playing with the blind guy like that. Hell if he really loved him and had been searching for him he'd say so right from the start. And the uke... Yeah, I've seen a lot of fast "submitting" and falling in love in yaoi... but this really was too fast. And he surely can get over his issues quickly.

Sorry for the rant but I just can't see the reason for so high raitings. Sure the art is ok looking and the story ok read. But that's it, it's OK for me. Guess people aren't as critical as I am or hasn't have more series to compare this to.

If you like sensei's works sure go ahead and read it but there's really nothing special in this one.

So surprised at the high ratings

I expected it to be good with how high the ratings were. Very disappointed after the first ten pages. It's dramatic. It seems like it's something out of a soap opera. The blind guy has issues that he gets over really fast. He is mad at Jin (the seme) because of who his father is then next few pages he's not. He says he can't forgive the man for his father's death but the next few pages he gets over it. This was just not my type of yaoi at all. I liked the side couple more.

I just suggest you pass on it. Read something else. Nice art though.

Iro wo mo Kaori wo mo

I liked this story mostly for the sexual tension and the side couple, Shima and Genkai. The main couple wasn't completely working for me. I found it hard to believe that Kaguya doubted Jin's identity as his first love, and I was a bit unnerved by how pushy Jin was. There was definite sexual attraction, but not the kind of love I think the mangaka wanted the readers to experience. I'm giving it an 8.5 for sensuality, lovely artwork, and Shima x Genkai smile

I love sexual tensions and this story had it! I have a soft spot for this manga and it was an enjoyable read. It's a great one to read for funsmile

Also, there have been people commenting that Kaguya did not act blind and there isn't one particular way blind people act. For some, they have been blind for so long that they see the world through their senses...so they might not "look" blind.

Meh

I am with MightyMaeve on this one. This was just an average pot of cheesy cheese. I also liked the secondary couple more. The main story was super melodramatic and unrealistic. Because of how silly it is(and not in a funny way) I really could not get in to any part of it. The art is rather pretty, but also tacky at times. No thanks.

The summary's misleading so readers would "expect". But it's a short story with a simple plot so why ask for the extreme?

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Firstly, only mangas like these can get away with throwing corny lines "To think that we have been in love with each other..Kaguya I'll never let you go!" ahh and the embrace =)) I mean is this yaoi or shoujo? Anyway their love scenes were really pretty. The way it was drawn. And they're both so good looking. Since it was only 1 volume I'm glad the author didnt drag the issue with Jin's dad. No excess drama and rivalry from previous lovers. I thought the secretary would interfere since he was Jin's previous sex friend. So I'm glad he didnt and ended up with the monk dude. Lol their story was cute too.

Overall, I liked the flow, everything was explained so I was satisfied in the end. If it werent for them falling in love when they were children I would've branded this manga as another love after sex plots. So their childhood story was a plus.

If you're looking for something without much angst just to pass the time then I this is a go. I guess I could call this story "sweet". Can't really say anything negative since the plot was really simple. It was the kind that your friend would've been able to create. The ending was nice (since it was connected to the beginning of the story)..the feeling you get like after eating a full meal. Btw, I gave it a 10 because of the art. If I rated it solely on the story it would've been an 8 (i'm a sucker for endings that make me squeal).

Pretty Art; Disappointing Story Development
by MightyMaeve

It was especially disappointing because it held such promise as potential angst-lover's pleasure. This one seemed thrown together and extremely superficial. The art was flowing and light-stroke pretty, but the story... * shakes head *

The characters were one-dimensional and the development of their relationship was unbelievable and flat. Their love was unconvincing and their behaviour was incomprehensible with its brevity and motivations. As for the blindness...what blindness?

I did enjoy the brief glimpse of a relationship with the secondary characters of the blind man's servant and the hotel owner's aide. Like the main story, their story had great potential. Unlike the main story, these secondary two men were funny, compelling and much more believable--even with far less 'air time.'

No angst

I agree with the comment below, i was afraid that this manga will be full angst and kinda dark but it's not really. In fact it is the opposite, there some humor to it aswell. The only thing i hated about it is that on the first chapters there wasn't any plot, just plain smut and sex but nevertheless it was still good. The second couple was the comic relief of the series "biggest penis i ever seen" LOL The story wasn't that complex as it may seem in the description above.

this manga might sounds dark and angsty but it's really mostly fun and sexy. Jin is an endearing bastard, willing to use any underhanded means to get what he wants (--->Kaguya) but in the end his heart is definitely in the right place. Kaguya is confused about his feeling but it never gets annoying like in other stories. The mangaka does a good job at building the sexual tension between the two and the eventual sex scenes are explicit and hot. There's another minor couple that's pretty cute and I wouldn't mind hearing more about them. The artwork is pretty good but nothing amazing. This manga is definitely recommended if you're looking for something light to read.
