The first chapter sure gives a sour aftertaste considering the previous comment that he seem to have a wife, but

she's actually dead (not sure why the character implies she's alive)

Age gap becomes unimportant

At the beginning their hardships and the age gap were actually handled well but after volume 2 it's just plain old shoujo tropes and the age gap doesn't even play a huge factor anymore, which makes both of the protagonists unlikeable, plus the lack of side-charcaters makes them look even more self-centered without caring about the consequences of their relationship.

I typically skip on age gap relationships (especially if one of the leads is still in high school), but I took a chance because I'm a big fan of the mangaka. I love everyone's relationships with each other (so loving, even platonically!). So far, nothing feels forced and they are actually communicating with each other. Can't wait to see what happens!
