because this is definitely not what i expected when i saw "porn star x salaryman". it is much better, and left me with a smile on my face. kira is totally not what i imagine a porn star to be like, *grin*; i want him as my friend. the story is basically a simple love story, and it's really nice to now and then read something where there's not big, angsty drama and all sorts of nasty obstacles. and while there is a blushing, crying uke who's much too feminine for my taste, he is not the annoying type who denies his feelings and protests any sexual contact; nope, he actually figures out what he is feeling and admits to it, and then enjoys himself once they get to the sex. which is graphic, btw. the two are really sweet together, and kira is even entertaining during sex.

the art is interesting; ootsuki definitely has her own style. i loved looking at kira; whose design is very expressive.

the scanlation is indeed superior to the commercial translation (you should buy the manga if you like it anyway; heck, buy the japanese version because it's prettier -- but do read the scanlation.)

For some reason, I can't explain my feelings on this one. I think it's one of my favorites, but then again, I don't like it that much to become one of my favorites. Ahh, I'm confusing myself. @_@ But anyway, I found this story to be really cute. I like the fact that both of them are really in love with each other, I mean, every couple in a love story are really in love, what I meant is that the manga-ka makes it very evident that that they really like each other (i.e. both of them blush, cry because of each other, etc.). Hmm, as of the art, it's obviously very appealing (I wouldn't have read it otherwise, haha). The way Ootsuki-sensei draws the male (and a little bit of the female) bodies look really nice. For some reason, some of the panels actually even look like they can stand-alone as an art piece, IMO. One last thing about the art, I REALLY like the way she draws the whole torso shirtless, ahh *~*. I also just wanted to mention that the girls (there was only one main one that stood out, but I think there was another one) aren't annoying and portrayed as a hindrance to the couple's relationship (she actually helps and cheers them on in a way). Lastly, the plot. Obviously, this is only a one-shot, so you won't really see much development. It's a cute quick read that gives you a warm fuzzy after you finished reading, haha. And it won't even take that much of your time, so I highly recommend this. (:

I just got the paperback edition of this book today, and the translation isn't as good as the rather brilliant, witty and thoughtful online version. I think the care that the volunteer translators put in online often outshines the the paperback publishers, and I searched for the name of the translator of this manga, but Iridescent seems to be no more. But I'd like to tell them how superior their version was. They had a master translator, who was a great writer and cared about the material. It makes me realize how important the translation part of manga is! GOOD JOB, IRIDESCENT!, wherever you are...

The art took me some time to get used to, but after the third chapter I understood that the art fits perfectly together with the story.

Yes, reading the content the first thing I thought was "oh..another AV actor story"..but far from it, the story is about falling in love and accepting the other partner. This manga leaves you with a light and sunny feeling, there are no "evil characters" or big hurdles they have to overcome. So it is a cute and light read.

This is one story I will read again.

I didn't expect much from a plot with pornstar x salaryman - but this story was unexpectedly sweet. Not super-deep or philosophical in any way, but it was well put together, had nice art and reasonable conflicts.

I had a good feeling about it, and was left happy and uplifted. A breath of ... weird ... fresh air.

It gets a 9 from me, even though it may not be perfect. It has its own unique charm.
