Eye rolling fun
by Utsukushii Yume
February 9th, 2017, 6:43pm
Rating: 3.0  / 10.0
I had a lot of fun rolling my eyes at the plot development. There is no communication, there is no growth as a couple. If Kieron's mother dies, their marriage is going to be over simply because they don't communicate with each other. Kieron's mother communicates all the important stuff to them instead of them just telling each other.

Kieron never expresses any regret b/c she should have gotten his letter. As a reporter you'd think he'd have just asked her, why did you leave,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
didn't you get my letter
, are you mad about {insert plot}, and so on in typical fashion when someone who should love you is acting cold. Especially since at the beginning of the manga he was shocked to learn she was on trail. How about a: "I didn't know that had happened, I am sorry. It was not my intention to hurt you." Again, the logical things people would have brought up at some point. But nope, let me just assume you perfectly understood all that happened back then. I will act like I never used you since what I did wasn't wrong at all, & I shall not feel any regret.

Next he pretty much threatens her to marry him, and seems to forget that he threatened her? Would it kill him to remember his own threats and consider his wifes feelings?

Beth is wrong too. Don't worry I didn't pick sides, they were both handling everything wrong. Beth never says anything. How could you do such a thing, I loved you and you just left me, I was so lonely and hurt, blah blah etc, the typical things people ask before running into the arms of they who hurt you. The other issues with her would require me to spoil.

This whole story could have been told the same but better by:

1) resolving the issue they are mad at each other in the first 2.5 chapters by just having them ask obvious question people like them would have asked in the beginning.

2) Have the last 2.5 chapters be about trying to rebuild their lost trust. The only thing that needs changing is the dialog really. The scene on the beach, he noticed she was still struggling to trust him and calls her out on it. That scene of her talking about a dream, change it to her confessing she is still scared but wishes to push past the pain towards a better future if he would be willing to do so.

These simple changes would have allowed readers to watch those two grow together as they worked out a problem like a couple should. Instead of devoting 5 chapters to nobody saying anything to each other and having some outsider be the one to push them together.

I never usually write reviews, to be honest I never say a manga is bad usually I give a minimal of a 3/4 at the most, but this is a plain and fat ZERO, I wish I could describe it in words but I can't.

Just plain terrible story development

Don't bother reading this Harlequin romance. After the flashback chapter, where we get the whole basis for the couple conflict, the female lead never truly confronts the male lead with her issues. The writer just let's him force himself into an unwilling relationship with her. It's got noting to do with any kind of abuse, simply terrible plot development and non-existent conflict resolution.

There are So Many other contract or loveless marriage stories from this publisher that are far more entertaining. This is my first with a #1 ranking, it's that bad.

Not too bad

Plot is a bit strange and probably it would be better if manga was longer. But still it is better than some other stuff out there. As a romantic manga this is really good one, but plot is indeed underdeveloped...

There wasn't any physical abuse

There's wasn't any physical abuse that ChocoKun said there was.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He never once hit her. The only time he was about to was in chp 3, however, he stopped when he heard Nicky. From the scan, it's a bit cut off, but you can see that he is still holding is hand back and didn't hit her yet. He also realizes his action too on the next page when he holds his right hand.

However, he did push her in one scene, but that push is hardly called abusive. It was more of letting-go-of-her-arm-in-a-rough-way, the same arm that was about to slap him.

So, overall he was hardly an abusive husband, accept for the once PRE-marriage attempted rape, which he stopped after she refused.
I'm not trying to defend all his actions, but setting the facts straight.

As for my review, it ended as you would expect. However, everything was resolved all to easily and quickly to be realistic.

ok, but

I think the story is underdeveloped. I'm not a fan of the genre, but occasionally I look for this types of stories, cuz characters are usually interesting. I didn't find these characters even worth the pages they consumed sad . The guy is a villain in the eyes of the heroin, so he has to come of as a bad person. But a con man, border rapist and extortionist? The girl got burnt. She adapted a new persona and then she concedes to whatever the guy is throwing at her?
There is no fun in this story. It's like a cheap drama with large gaps of common sense.

Ok, NO, WORST HARLEQUIN EVER!
by ChocoKun

Rating: 1.0  / 10.0
For those that are wishing to read this, I sugguest you find some other Harlequin than this (I bet any other one you find is better than this.

I know the male leads in Harlequins are usually forceful and everything, but this is just..... NO
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
1) When they get into heated arguments, the guy SLAPS her and PUSHES her down to the ground... not the sexual way lol but the ABUSIVE throwing to the ground way.

2) He OPENLY flirted with another woman, like in all the Harlequins I've read this is the 2nd time I've witness it.

So in short, he is more like the abusive husband. Even though the story mentioned him almost committing suicide, I STILL cannot forgive his actions. This whole story is sending out the wrong message about love, as if getting married to an abusive husband BEFORE will eventually cure him of his abusive habits... like NO

This is the 1st story to receive a 1/10 from me. Do not read it!

Hmmm...

Personally I don't think that it is too bad. I really like the forced marriage theme. And on top of that there's a child and a caring mother x cruel bastard. That's kind of my favorite setting. The art is not too bad either. Actually I love that adult-looking style. Probably I could read anything if it's for this style.
I'm curious how it will end or rather how the end will be done. Since if it's a harlequin you have always somehow an idea how it will end. smile For now I really love it (even though the guy is a bastard, my sympathies are with the mother^^). My final rating will depend on the ending.

Well, the ending was how I expected it to be. I guess I like harlequins. Other than that I wouldn't have been able to bear it I guess... I'm a little disappointed that

she forgave him so easily, because no matter what you might say, he used her...
