Wow. I read this after the prequel to see if I was too harsh on it, but I wasn't harsh enough. Tomoi is all the worst stereotype of a gay man: predatory, misogynistic, and a "deviant"/"twisted." This manga felt downright homophobic. This is one of the lines: "One of the reason there are more gays these day is because women have become too strong." And since it's an old-timey yaoi, there is, of course, the over the top evil woman character that will keep the boys apart (she's the wife of one of them though). There is also ridiculous drama in this one, too, just like the prequel. They are confined to the last two chapters, the first two chapters are more gags.
You will enjoy this if you like soap operas, I suppose. I am at a loss at how people are defining realistic when it comes to this and the prequel.

T_T this story is like love, it's too cruel and painful but still so beautiful, yet you can't help but love it...
I almost cried... the story is too good, unlike other BL manga this one is too realistic, even the ending is too real that the pain I'm feeling now is so deep...
advice... if you feel down and depress then don't read this

What can I say, it's down to earth, that's why when you read it, it hits you right in the face. It gives a take on characters who feel so real, like they're actual people who have lived, who have had their own lives and worries, unlike usual BL manga with them 'uke' and 'seme' 'monopolizing' each other. It shows life is unfair, shit happens and that's that, all you gotta do is deal with it, moving on or not. I wish I could find more manga like this.

A very realistic BL manga. There's no hot scenes although it's a BL manga, there's love and there's death. There's painful ending. I'm still crying my eyes out here. I just can't take it.

This, together with it's prequel, are a sober look on the life of the protagonist; a realistic view on homosexuality along with the problem of AIDS, death, jealousy. This doesn't take place in a world where every man is gay. There's no bishonen, drawn-out sex scenes or uke and seme stereotypes. And there's no happy ending.
The characters have lives of their own, jobs, wives or girlfriends to deal with.
The protagonist has a lot to endure, he keeps losing those dear to him over and over.
Reading this (and the prequel) left a deep impression, not feeling happy but sad for what Tomoi has to go through in his life.
While I'm neither a fan of mustaches nor "older" men in BL manga, this was still a manga worth reading.
Especially the topic of AIDS was interesting because nowadays it's no issue anymore, especially in the rose-colored world of BL, so there's not many works portraying it.
If you care to read a seriously realistic series, without the sweet talk and girly ukes, but with a lot of tragedy, then this is definately for you.
(Make sure you read the prequel Nemureru Mori no Binan before this one!!)

I can't believe I can finally finish this series. :'( I'm crying like a baby right now, mainly because I absolutely loved this series!! Incredibly unique with a very realistic portrayal of how a gay relationship could be like. Tomoi is witty, charasmistic and doesn't spout bullshit (most of which aren't present in normal BL mangas).
I can't believe there isn't a single comment already! The only problem with this is that it's too short!! I want to read more!
