this manga is incredibly good. good story, great art, nice humor, amazing action, and the largest stand out cast of characters i've seen anywhere. there a lot of stories out there with a great cast or a large cast of characters. this is first one i've seen that has both. every single character stands out so well that you just have to love them. every time of think of this manga it just makes me want to start reading it all over again.
On first glance you can notice the nice artwork rich with detail, not to mention the thirty plus characters introduced into the story, each with their very distinct traits that makes you remember who is who. The storyline is filled with keen background of the characters shown, one by one, each character is put on the spotlight diving deeper into their story, leaving you with not a single dull moment.
The complexity of the magic society, along with very detailed action packed fight scenes, make this a must read for anyone into either action, harem, romance, drama or ecchi.
The only down side is the main character happens to be a ten year old boy, but that can be easily overcome by the breath taking storyline. The good thing about negi being ten years old is that it leaves plenty of room for imagination, for instance thinking about how powerful a mage he is gonna become, along with what spells you would like to see him use or how much of a mack he would become after he grows a little older and starts looking like his father, if your like me then you can spend hours entertaining yourself just thinking about how negi along with the story would progress.
Definetly a favorite on my list.
ps. to the people who gave this a bad rating please read this manga to at least volume seven before you can make a judgment on this, after then if you still feel you didn't like it then I respect your oppinion
This my favorite manga ever second to that is love hina. I couldn't thought this wasnt gonna have any real action at all in it, but the fight scene rival that of any action manga like naruto or bleach. Perfect for ecchi comedy lovers.
Honestly, I feel it's stupid to compare two series of totally different Genre, People keep on comparing Love Hina And Negima, I never read the manga of Love Hina but I have watch the Anime and their is nothing worth comparing the two other than the fact that both is Ken Akamatsu's work, and it's ecchiness, but in terms of storyline, duh! it's different alright? Different!
I'm not going to comment anymore of Love Hina because it's the anime version, but as for Negima, having 31 cute girls as students of a 10 year old sensei is not to bad, it's cool, and it's not that everyone agrees to it, think about Chisame. About the story being a little less serious, the story being focused on a 10 year old boy, so it's okay, it's fitting. About character development, the characters lifestories is being intrdoduce one at a time, the manga is not finish, so we can expect the other remaining characters to be explain in a latter time (Plus you cannot expect to make them all main characters, but I believe that everyone else will have a moment in the manga). As for the ecchi stuff, I don't see any malice in it, the fact that they are presented in a very comical and comedic way is tolerable to me (although it's true that the main male protagonist is 10 years old, it's tolerable as long as it's not presented in a serious manner)
I gave Mahou Sensei Negima a Perfect 10!
It has it's magic, I like the art, though the main character has it's flaws, it's a very good manga. It has it's own so-called magic in it. worth reading
I started reading it, but when the 10 year old childlike thing turned for the worst, i just stopped, toooo weird.
good...but my god, can't you people see......it's a 10 year old, a 10 year old!!!
Ecchi and 10 year old don't go together!
one of my current favorites.
the fact that there are 30+ distinct characters interacting "normally" without a moment of boredom definitely got me hooked. it might start as another "1 guy + 50 billion chicks" type of manga but the complexity of the magical world and the varying characters definitely waived that thought away immediately.
a must-read recommendation for anyone who likes fantasy based action/comedy.
A great manga that is funny and cute. While it uses many sterotypes, the characters develop and I do care about them. That said: go library girl!!
I've been following the manga ever since it came out after reading Love Hina. When it started, I continued reading it because it was slightly funny, although I don't think that it's as funny as Love Hina.
Still, as the story progressed, I got more hooked up by the action and magic. The artwork was simply AMAZING. Akamatsu was careful on the details, and made a lot of planning. And, despite of having an manga filled with more than 30+ characters, you can somehow know all their differences. Heck, even the twins!! XD
It doesn't matter if you're not a romance, ecchi or action fan. Negima is one manga that you do not want to miss.
