This manga has a very cold atmosphere to it and it has me feeling sad when I read it.

To sum this manga up, it's about annoying characters being annoying, which all resolves annoyingly.

The characterisation is very shallow. The characters themselves are ridiculous. Like, the seme bastard's says something about

not wanting to see the uke cry anymore, and that's why he's leaving
but did he forget that he kind of
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
started it all by treating him like a sex slave?
Was the mangaka trying to make us like this guy by getting him to completely reverse his personality all of a sudden? I suspect that may be the case. And the uke;
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I know what you can't forget about the seme as he was in the past and all that, but HELLO? He's mistreated you pretty badly, y'know? Maybe he's not the one you should latch onto for your whole life?

Furthermore, the ending was way too rushed. What was that excuse of a resolution with the brother? The ending events feel really disconnected from he rest of the manga.

Ugh, that seme...

Angst ridden with rape... Just the way I like it.

With a manga tagged with "rape," "possessive lover," and "angst," you'd think people would get an idea of what the story's about. o_0 I guess they were misled by the cute pretty art, and the fact that Minami Haruka normally does light comedy type yaoi.

Anyways, about the main characters, I kind of find this dynamic interesting. BOTH of them were/are in love, but due to circumstances, it evolved into a master-servant relationship (sex-wise). Otherwise though, the seme and uke were pretty standard for this kind of theme. I suppose the best part of this yaoi was the angst.

I STILL feel sorry for the older brother. I really have conflicted feelings.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The older brother's relationship with the old man was kinda messed up, especially when you think of how young older brother would have been when it started.

I'm pretty good at separating fiction from my real life beliefs, but something about this bothered me, even though I've read tons of stories (and enjoyed it) with that scenario before. I'm not sure what set me off on this, but I suppose the author succeeded if I'm feeling this way.

The ending could also use more work. I don't think the "resolution" was nowhere near as satisfying as the other parts. I honestly think Minami Haruka may have a future in the "darker" yaoi genre, but needs to work on her story endings.

Surprising depth... Don't judge by the cover...

Although I hate girly looking ukes (and this art was very much girly, even the seme looked kinda feminine), and even though I was slightly put off by the front cover when I saw this, as soon as the plot began developing after the first half chapter or so I really enjoyed it!

I liked this situation, the story, and the characters, while not necessarily being that original, had depth and even Masaya (a side character) I found interesting, especially in regards to all their motives! I even found myself thinking that the art at times was beautiful (and as I said, I don't like 'girly' art).

Whilst the rape may be an issue for some readers, I liked it, thought it fitted in perfectly with the character's emotions (It wasn't just 'random' rape, there were clear motives behind it - if that makes sense - and even the seme found it bittersweet), and the fact that *spoiler(ish)* Ryou liked Akihito beforehand made that when he still wanted him at the end slightly more realistic.

So give it a try! I did, and I was pleasantly surprised x

after reading a lot of Minami-sensei's works, I was getting tired of cute, crying, silly and overly childlish ukes and semes, but this was... wow! Awesome! This one really moved me. Characters and plot had so much depth. Really awesome, totally recommend it, if you want to read something with great plot and gorgeous art!

Regardless of the angsty confusion that both parties felt, sorry I'm not sorry--RAPE IS RAPE. Rape is WRONG. Being hurt and confused and wanting someone to stay with you IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR RAPE. I thought it was really skeevy how he would
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
also manipulate Ryou and play with his head by saying what might happen to his brother.
That is not love; that is obsession.

And the art was "myeh"... It weirds me out when the sizes of the uke and seme's penises are so blatantly disproportionate hahaha like really?? Ryou's looked like one of those skinny sausage links you get at IHOP.

I'm pretty used of the whole spineless protagonist in these things, but this is just ridiculous.
If the plot would've been kept light, this wouldn't have been so bad. With a heavy topic like that you can't half ass it, otherwise it feels awkward and there's no catharsis when you finish reading.
I kept waiting for him to pull out a gun on the old man, or a broken bottle... something to retaliate. That would've been a great ending.
Imagine viewfinder without Akihito fighting back. While reading it you wouldn't be submersed in the story. Instead the whole time you'd be thinking "grow a pair, kid." It would be boring and unnecessary. That's pretty much what happened here.

I thought it was GOOD

This really isn't Haruka sensei's usual style. It's usually very cute and funny with lots of sex. And I see some here who say she didn't succeed. I think she did. She's not the best in this genre, there's honestly much better in the angst genre that I love very much, but who can be the best at everything?

And I honestly enjoyed reading it just as much, and even more than some of her other stories. Akihito's behavior was indeed a bit too extreme, but it didn't bother me allt hat much, because throughout the whole story, I still felt he really cared a lot for Ryou.
And what happened to Ryou's nii-san almost made me cry, I really felt for Masaya.

I say, if you're a fan of Haruka Minami, you absolutely need to read this one too.

Maybe Minami Haruka should stick to plotless smut. This wasn't *terrible*, but it wasn't great either.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The whole being totally in love and just bouncing back like it was nothing after tons of rape and abuse was sort of ridiculous.
I enjoy her mindless smut, but I think the dumb character development and plot in this overshadowed that and I was just left feeling kind of uncomfortable. I don't think the plot alone was that terrible of an idea, but it needed someone else to flesh it out as this did not work for me. I've read a lot worse though.

One of the better ones

So i'm quite familiar with the mangaka's works and i have to say this is probably one of the better ones - at least theres some attempt at a story and plot in this, where as many of her works are basically plotless smut. That said, this isnt a masterpiece by any means - it has a few good moments and i like the ending in some ways, but its quite cliche, nothing very original or special and the ending was quite predictable too. Its an entertaining read and im still in love with the art style - but dont let yourself read it with expectations - chances are you'll be disappointed.
