to be quite honest this manga should be all about the last couple. the art is beautiful, so why the crappy plots? this mangaka could do much better, imo.
A good, but not great debut of a new mangaka. Although I would have to disagree with people...from reading this manga, I can catch a glimpse of her potential in the future. It kind of makes me look forward to what's gonna come from this magaka for the future. (That made no sense, didn't it?)
Although many other people seem to feel that the stories within this series are typical and underdeveloped, my opinion differs otherwise. Obviously, some plots are typical, but what else is new in Yaoi? Majority of the works in the yaoi genre are one way or another the same, typical. Underdeveloped, true, the author could have carried on with many of the plots, but chose not to, leaving them as one-shots. However, to me, that's the charm of this work. So yes, it seems typical, but at least it's short and pleasing to look at, not a 20 chapters saga about mindless sex like other series I have seen.
I was a tad disappointed that the author didn't continue chapter 2 and 5, because their directions are lovely. However, her arts make up a lot for the underdevelopments.
Overall, I found all the stories worthwhile to read. I don't find it particularly "rubbish" and treating child abuse and rape casually like fouloldron said, considering that there are tons of yaoi out there that are worse, and that this is purely a fictional work for the enjoyment of different audiences.
The arts are gorgeous, and I look forward to see more of this author's future work.

I like it .... i think this mangaka have the talent.... The stories are good, i think that they have a good plot, but some of them have an open ending.

Well....It's not a bad manga. Some stories are nice, even some of the very short ones (that seem unfinished) and the art looks good. I'd say it's almost 7 for me because there are magakas out there who can make oneshots seem a complete story and have good art and good character motivation and those are the ones that deserve something between 8 and 10.
I'm giving this a 10 because the art is gorgeous - very clean, great facial expressions, and because I this work deserves better reviews. This is a collection of one-shots so don't expect too much as far as plot goes, but any one of the stories has enough potential to elaborate into a volume of its own. I'm really excited to see future works from this mangaka. She's under my radar now <333
It really depends on what you like. Do you always want "plot"? Then you'll be disappointed. But it's not just "eye-candy", either. Even the stories other than the last and longest one, while they're clearly underdeveloped in some cases, there's often an element of darkness or uniqueness that stands out.
I don't think the darkness gets fully developed, but I can see where sometimes a sudden ending and a minimalist approach was still effective, as in the third story, about the 'pervert'. The stories tend to be sort of disturbing and yet weirdly sweet, and I liked the sort of distant, mysterious quality of the ukes.
It surprises me that this got as many reviews as it did-- I didn't think it was a stand-out release, and ordinary yaoi releases don't generally get this much attention. Certainly, it didn't deserve this much *negative* attention. My biggest feeling in the end is that I really look forward to this mangaka's future work; her style is clean and very pretty in a fresh way, and the element of ambiguous darkness and some of the sexy, come-hither yet uptight type ukes really do it for me. This type of uke is best developed in the last story, but there are flashes of this dynamic in some of the other stories; she seems at her best with that characterization.
It seems she went for atmospheric darkness over realistic development with some of the themes, and I actually think that's a valid choice. She still has to improve in her storytelling, but I don't think you need to treat any issue in any particular way. The next to last story was the one most abrupt, but I consider my desire for more an expression at least partly of its quality.

omg, i agree with fouloldron.About all thestories are your typical yaoi...no plot...sex....shallow...rape. The last story is really nice though. It's cute and sweet as well as very nicely passed.
I liked this series mainly because it fed my eye-candy appetite. The stories, though, are typical and underdeveloped. Considering that this is Katou's first work, I'm going to forgive its shortcomings due to inexperience. Personally, I've seen first works done a lot worse than this.
Don't get me wrong, I did like this series. The art was my most favourable aspect, but I liked most of the stories too. But, out of respect for the series that I have given upwards of eight out of ten, I just can't put Trompe l-oeil on the same level. This volume is entertaining in its own way. The art of the one-shot is to have a completely expressed story in so many pages. The one-shots in this volume mostly feel incomplete. It's as if the manga-ka didn't really know what story she wanted to tell.
