Berserk probably has the best artwork out there, with so much attention to detail. Well, for the later volumes at least. I still find the artwork of the first five volumes as so-so. Story is really great, with a lot of depth in it, especially the characters. It's like Spawn, LOTR, and Harry Potter combined in one, with lots of demons, magic, and hack-n-slash. Not for the light-hearted though, as there are too much blood, sex, and violence.
i would rate it 11, only thing i can say is that this sentence is wrong:
Its status in the manga world is like "Lord of the Ring" or "Star Wars" saga.
It should be more like Lord of the Ring PLUS Star Wars!

the best ever
This is probably the best manga ever. All that's about it, it's amazing! I just love it. One Piece is also a truly great manga, but it is in a whole different category. I guess everyone can tell that One Piece is more laughing fun than berserk, but it is a rather poor plot compared to berserk, and the graphic detail isn't near to compare.
Superbly gruesome and gorey blends well with the dark atmosphere and ingenious character dynamics. You'll want to know everything about these characters. Manga usually doesn't get better than this.
What can I say? It's a cool drawing style, it's action and fantasy, it's an original story and a little funny elf. ^-^
Blood, adventures, magic, perviness, well done fights, magnific art,...
It has everything and it is great. And it just improves with the years - both the story and the author's art.
It will surely continue for a lot of years.

It's beyond words. Both art and story are magnificent. If you haven't read it then try it. You won't regret it!
One of the Greatest comix ever. And just to confirm. The arts is a masterpiece as well. How could anyone get another impression? It's ok to critizise the story, but the art is far too great to critizise, period!
I've read plenty manga and I have to say this is one of, of not the greatest I've ever read. I'm speechless... A recomendation to any seinen fan and "dark fantasy" fans in general. Don't miss this!
