Description

The demon queen subdued enormous and powerful monsters and slaughtered over half of the world's population. Surviving members of the human race elected a hero to slay the demon queen, beseeching release from her oppressive rule. However, he questions his mission to eradicate the monsters: in his opinion, they too are conscious and alive, and so he anguishes over that fact. Sheila the Demon Queen became interested in him and joined his journey, hiding her identity and with the plan to kill him after she has gained his trust. Eventually, she realizes that she fell in love with the hero, and hence their journey begins...

Ok, so I finished Superior and was all like, O__O, where the hells the ending, this isn't the end, nothing significant has happened yet.

What about the love between Sheila and Exa? What of the blood "antidote" that is supposedly going to kill Sheila. What about the clone Demon Lord (who apparently still doesn't have a name yet, BTW I love clone number two, both in furry ball form and after being changed to look like Sheila). Is Exa going to kill Sheila? Is Sheila going to kill Exa? Are The two going to die together? Are they going to live happily ever after? What gives?

So I get pissed off and go mope around for about three days before going back and realizing that their is a sequel (how overjoyed I was). So I quickly download the scans for the first volume of Superior Cross and find out that the entire things is little more than a recap of what happened in Superior along with a little character development and background information on the characters (and a little past problems resolved for some of the characters). I was so looking forward to jumping straight back into the story, it was just getting good.

Though the first volume was a complete let down the second volume makes up for it in spades. It gets back into the style that was present throughout the first nine volumes of superior and also is a good continuation of the series, developing Sheila feelings towards Exa and furthering the story, on both sides. Can't wait for the next volume and hope you all enjoy as well.

Disappointing.

(This is a review of both Superior and Superior Cross)

In the beginning, I liked Superior. It was cute in that it was like an RPG with a party that included a hero, the hero's right-hand swordsman, and a mage (and later, an assassin-type) all out to destroy the Maou. And I liked how it handled Shiela's fear of the inevitable day when the hero realizes that she's the enemy, and how desperate she is to keep her identity secret. I looked forward to how Exa and the others would react upon learning that Shiela was the Big Bad they were out to kill.

But when Exa finally found out... let's just say I was not impressed.

What happened to all that angsting you did, and your final conviction to believe in the Shiela that you know & love? You just suddenly throw all of this away in your rage, even though Shiela told the truth while apologizing & in tears, moments before she went and tried to sacrifice her life to save yours? :/ Ok, I guess it's understandable considering you've hated the Maou for a long time (she did kill your parents and decimated your entire hometown, not to mention half the world's population), and you feel betrayed and stuff, but then you suddenly turn around and are not mad anymore? Wait what???

I also found the ending rushed, and didn't make a whole lot of sense (or maybe that was just the scanlation).

I don't understand why the mangaka had to create this Original Maou character. There's Copy and Third already, why make Shiela a clone too? >>; It would have been better if the author had stuck with Shiela being the original and just prolonged the Exa vs. Shiela fight, delving more into their emotions, Exa especially. The scenes would have been more heart-wrenching, and the eventual acceptance, forgiveness, and 'I still love you' moment would have been more awwww-inducing.

All in all, it started out pretty good, but devolved into a rushed, mediocre manga that left much to be desired.

That first chapter of volume 4 was just plain weird
but the end had a very big cliff hanger dammit !!!
How long will volume 5 take ? D:
that last update before this was 200days ago.
If the next takes that much, we'll all grow old 🙁

Ha xD I had the same thing happen to me too! I finished Superior, and I was like "OMGGG WHERES THE REST" and I moped around for a for a few days. THEN I FOUND THIS. This is my FAVORITE series with a girl in an action manga. It's like, Ao No Futsumashi to me, just shoujo<3. I LOVE AO NO FUTSUMASHI. Overall, this isn't a critic. I just wanted to post HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS. SO MUCHHHHHHH<3.

Yay! Read Superior, and then this! I loved every single FRICKING chapter there was. ^^!

It's amazing!
The plot line is fantastic! I love adventures, and this is BY FAR the best adventure manga I've ever read. The choices the characters make in this manga actually make sense, and aren't far fetched.
BLEH ITS JUST SO GOOD.

This is one of the rare mangas that when you explain it, you make it sound worse. XD.
It's hard to describe it in words, so I'll move to bullet points.
*FANSDKFLJSLKDFJSDLF-TABULOUS CHARACTERS-gawd I love the lead. She's not innocent OR LOVE SICK! 😀 THERES ACTUAL PERSONALITY!!! 😀 !!! K, now I'm comparing this to a shoujo xD. Sorry. Anyway, the lead is fantastic. And the character growth (for ALL the characters, not just Shayla) is AMAZING. You don't realize it when you're reading(the manga-ka is so awesomely realistic and subtle about it), but when you think back on it, you realize how much they've changed. c: and it makes you happy to think you were part of it.!!! Also, the other characters(I wont list them off) are awesome too. c: this manga is just SJDKLFSDJF AWESOME.
*GREAT ART I drool when reading this. At least, I probably do. XD i know I do mentally!

I Loved It, But...

the ending left me REALLY dissatisfied! I really enjoyed how

none of the main characters died. There was a close call for Lakshri in either Superior or Superior Cross (read them back to back so I can't differentiate which was which except for the obvious plot points) that got me panicking, but it all turned out okay in the end haha. I enjoyed the entirety of the story, if only it weren't for the ending! Ugh. ! I can think of so many better ways to have ended it. If Sheila had come out of the space or whatever and then we'd seen a flash-forward to the future, I would have loved it about a million times better. This is my first shounen ever, so I was a bit hesitant, but I actually really enjoyed it.

The manga was a bit more serious than the first series but well worth the read. Things get better, more action, twists, and to top it off it has a happy ending. If you read the first series you have no choice but to read the second because you will need closure 😀 The only warning I will give is this one ends like most romance manga released today which is conclusive, happy ending

however my gripe is the happy ending comes in the final chapter.

The first few volumes of this series were god, from memory. But, i'm ot sure if it's because i had high expectation after having to wait almost a year for volume 5 to be teld, but volume 5 especially seemed like a trough. The finale chapter was...weird. And the manga occassionally went pretty surreal which goes against the whole tragic vibe it had going that i loved.

I'm a sucker for the whole "enemies become good because they fall in love" kind of like in Vampire Game. I absolutely love this manga. It has a few cliches, but nevertheless, it works well with the plot. I wouldn't really call this manga a shounen since it's too romanced-focused though. But it works well as a shoujo, and it's much more interesting than reading a typical school-life manga.

2nd Season...

I liked this one, but you have to read a few volumes in before you really get back onto the plot line of the previous season. If this story had just kept going and didn't have the break between the two, I would've scored it higher.
Over all the plott is really good and I love the character growth!
