I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Things happen and characters react in the moment it happens, but then seem to forget all about it until it is convenient for the plot again.

Nothing happening seems to truly affect the characters. Yes they suffer here and there, but then 10 chapters later it is forgotten about. If someone whips you, that stays with you, your personality will adjust accordingly, you may choose to tremble in fear, develop a rooted hatred, develop a trauma that haunts you at night, struggle to find peace and not seek vengeance, SOMETHING!

Traumatic experiences should add something to the character or plot, but all the stuff happening in this story is like a checklist at a supermarket. I got the torture scene, the rape scene, now all I need is the scene where they fall in love. Every scene is just happening because it is on the checklist, but after everything happens nothing has changed, personalities are the same and if you replaced anything on that checklist with any other checklist the story would still be the same because nothing on the original checklist actually mattered to the overall story or characters actions.
