Hi...so I get bored pretty often. When I get bored I enjoy reading plots that make you pause for a moment and go "Well that is different...". I tried searching through the forums, but yea wasn't finding what I was looking for...

Looking for preferably complete, any genre/troupe (besides hentai) series that threw you for a loop when reading because of how different they were from everything else you have read (in the sense you felt you would never find anything else like this ever again) or because of how "weird" the plot was.

I also don't mind body horror stuff, but I have read enough of it that its sort of lost its unique-ness in this realm, unless it is something super wild then please do recommend. Please be mindful of any spoilers or synopsis given.

Some examples of this that come to mind:
- Bougyaku no Kokekko
- Franken Fran
- Uzumaki or Gyo
- Starving Anonymous
- Midori Days
- Toriko
- Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo
- The Ride-On King
- Saint Young Men
- Buzzer Beater
- Dorohedoro

Thank you and I look forward to what recommendations come in!

Heterogeneous Linguistics. Might be boring to some but it's something I remember being fairly unique.
Oyasumi Punpun. Odd and a bit depressing.

+1 to the Heterogeneous Linguistics rec.

Haru no Noroi touches on dependency, grief, and depression in a way I've never seen others tackle it.

Kasane (MATSUURA Daruma) Read the description and that's all you need to know before diving in. There's really nothing like it out there.

Chainsaw Man is pretty much as "out there" as a shounen series can get.

If you liked Saint Young Men, you might also like Eniale & Dewiela although it's not being scanlated, but two volumes have been published in English so far. And I might as well mention the author's more popular work Witch Hat Atelier, which is also great and kind of feels like a blend of European and Japanese fairy tales.

Ah, you mentioned manga that are seriously unique. So it doesn't look like my version will be of much help.

My poor little soul can handle it :
Rojika to Rakkasei
This seemingly innocent manga turns out to be difficult to categorize. Even more so the ending adds to the surprise and essence of the story itself. It's funny but gradually it got dark and I didn't see it coming.
Migi to Dari
I don't know how to describe the weirdness of this manga. The twins' behavior caught my attention. It felt like I was in the middle of being made to laugh but "what the hell am I reading?"
Chi no Wadachi
Oedipus complex walks between affection and fear. I have mixed feelings about the existence of this very manga.
Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service
Highly underrated and still among the best in describing what horror is without having to show brutality throughout the story.
PTSD Radio
Slowly gripped fear and terror.
Houseki no Kuni
My digestable nominee on the list but not a fluffy ride either.

Titles that made me feel "why would I dare try it" but it's good as heck :
Homunculus
The author got me gawking wide.
Aku no Hana
Another mentally crushed type of reading with its incredibly insane characters. It's unsettling.
Dragon Head
This old survival-themed manga is pretty badly criticized but I like the depiction of human nature on the verge of madness and its emptiness. I recommend it.

Some of the titles above don't make me pay attention to the plot. Simply letting the emotions take over and attracted to the whole amtosphere. If you say if it's stands out, yes for me. Each of them has its own characteristics that I don't think all other mangaka can replicate.

Fourteen
Goshiki no Fune
G (KOIKE Keiichi)
Japan Tengu Party Illustrated
Journey to the End of the World
The Music of Marie
Wombs - Apparently she recently started a sequel to this, which I hadn't noticed until just now. The original series stands fine on its own.

Nijigahara Holograph fits this request better if you're going with series by Asano.

MPD Psycho is really fucking weird

Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service was very unique, but it's been a long time since I read it - I don't know if it holds up.

You could try Sekai Oni. The description is accurate but very misleading about what the manga is about. The plot while a bit different is no where near as important as how the characters react to their bizarre situation. I found it a fun read.

Someone mentioned Sekai Oni! Thank you for reminding. I haven't read it in a long time. It's very bizarre indeed.

Boku wa Mari no Naka is super unique and fascinating to accompany/try to predict. I recently re-read it and it's one that it's impossible to ignore imo

Oh wow! (Wasn't expecting this great of a turn out! Thank you!)

Thanks bunches for the turn out! Some of these were already on my radar, but I added all these recommendations to my lists to get to reading when I am bored and looking for something unique to read!
