Basically, I'd like to read a story where someone successfully (and happily, may I add) gets over her/his first love. I've always despised stories where characters never get over their first something-or-other, because that's not real life. (I'm talking to you, cliche-childhood-friend who vows to sit sad and alone in a corner and love the girl forever.) In the real world--as a general trend--people get on with their lives.

So, the character can either end up with a second/third/other lover or with nobody. I know there are threads already about unexpected romance endings, etc, but I want something where the main character willingly moves on and gets his or her happy ending. Not just, you know, gets the second guy because the first one up and dies.

:Stuff off the top of my head that counts (unintentionally all Shoujo):
-Koukou Debut, though I didn't enjoy this one (sorry, I know it's rather popular)
-Mairunovich has the MC dating lots of boys, and rather realistically dealing with each

-Hirunaka no Ryuusei, which made me inordinately happy

No hentai, yaoi, yuri, please. If it's also an anime, all the better.

It's been a while since I read it, but I think Obaka-chan, Koigatariki runs along those lines.

There's also the oneshot So, Stand by Me in Benkyou no Jikan which is exactly this, but it's a oneshot so obviously there isn't a lot of detail.

Oh, I like these ones and I've read a few. But sadly, I can't exactly remember all of them now. But if you still haven't, here's Tonari No Atashi. I'll add some more when it comes to me, through editing...

EDIT: Cat Street, also a title popping up here and there...
Kare wa Tomodachi, somehow dark, I didn't especially like that one... but well...
Kimi wa Pet, also something you've most probably heard of, if not read... Not just overcoming first love but coming to second love... 🤣

And some one-shots I have a hard time remembering... 🤢

EDIT 2: Don't read Heroine Shikkaku, it's fun. 😀 >:-( 😔
And I'm eagerly waiting for Cousin's next chapter... 😳

EDIT 3: Oh, and... H2O... 😳 Silly... manhwa... 😳

Well, I'm remembering these Seinens if you do not mind. (I just saw people suggesting Shoujo and Josei haha)

Haru yo, Koi
Love Junkies

I don't like but maybe this harem one matches your expectations too:

Ichigo 100%

Thank you guys 🙂

I forgot about Cat Street; I really like that one. Though I'm not sure what you mean when you say not to read Heroine Shikkaku? Is the ending disappointing?

Manicchi and F_J, haven't read either of your suggestions so I'll start them too. 🙂

Also I'll check out the seinens. I don't read that genre as much, but it's good to broaden my interests a bit.

Well, see, you said that you're looking for that specific type of story while Heroine Shikkaku is exactly the opposite. Just when you think that all's going to end smoothly... sigh Still, it's really fun to read. In a way.

And if you're broadening horizons, then I'll add Hetakoi. It is ecchi but not the type that forces it. The story comes first and it's sort of bittersweet. Not completely what you've asked for but also has that twist and "you dumbass! heartache" feeling towards certain characters in certain moments.

But Tonari no Atashi is just what you're looking for. Word by word. Straight hit! 🤣

I recomend you Peach Girl. I don't want to spoil much...

The second guy wins, but before that the girl begins dating the first guy and things happens and she start dating the second guy, then more things happens and when it seems tha she is going to end up with the first guy, bam! happy ending. .
Be aware, lots of drama.

Also, I think that Moe Kare!! is a good option too.

Second Moe Kare!!.

The same mangaka, Ikeyamada Go, who authored that also has another one with a similar love triangle aka Uwasa no Midori-kun!! (don't read the user comments for that one if you can - they're loaded with SPOILERS) 😁
