Cough So, does yuri still have a place here?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an original yuri series to recommend me? Perferably one that's not sugary, I'm looking for something more serious.

Or better still, a manga where gay and lesbian couples co-exist (maybe even with the odd straight pair).

Please and thank you!

haha >.<

well, if you want something with yaoi and yuri, you could read 50 x 50... it's mainly yaou but has a bit of yuri in there (chapter 3).

and also Utopia of Homosexuality (but i don't really like it, it's too...girlly 😛 ...)

Onozomi no Mama ni by MARUYA Kae - Chapter 5 (Imitation Lover) - a one-shot which focuses on a guy who gets a "pretend boyfriend" to make his "girl friend" jealous. I mention it this one, because there is a lesbian couple at the end ~ over all, while its super short, the ending is really sweet.

While probably way too shonen-ai, I think it would be a good read. The ending has a very fun twist! I can't spoil it, but I think it would be worth it to check it out.

Of course, if you're looking for (all colored, slightly hardcore) Yuri action, then try the title Maka-Maka. It's fun, interesting, and... well, its in color. I also saw a manga called Girl Friends but... I haven't read it (more it was me stumbling onto it by accident while looking for something else). xD

So, I hope this helps a wee bit.

I don't read much yuri; so, I can't suggest much.

Happy-Go-Lucky Days chapters 5 and 9.

Love My Life

Endless Narcissus

Gunjo might be okay (this is purely based on the fact that Kotonoha is the one scanlating this)

I'd suggest that you not read Utopia of Homosexuality.

As the story's moral is that homosexual men and women should just get together as they can never find the love and happiness in their own particular genders (and maybe that they weren't actually homosexual in the first place).

It would help to know more about your tastes. There are a bunch of non-sugary yuri works out there.

Or better still, a manga where gay and lesbian couples co-exist (maybe even with the odd straight pair).

You could try "Do Lovers Dream of Electric Eels?" from Furachi na Bokura (it's listed as chapter 4). All the other examples I can think of are BL manga that mention a f/f pair in passing or yuri manga that mention a guy/guy pair in passing.

Not totally yuri, but Blue works, I guess.

Manga no Tsukurikata - I've only read a couple of chapters but seems ok for now.
Tie Breaker - Not your typical schoolgirls yuri. The art isn't fluffy, it's sharp and interesting.
Double House - Since Pieta's already been mentioned I'll suggest this one.
12 Days - This one isn't scanlated but it's licensed by TokyoPop so if you live in the US you can buy it in a store. From the summary it seems good.
Love Vibes - I personally like it but maybe it won't be to your taste since it has low ratings.
Cotton - I'm not sure if this can be called shoujo-ai but it's nice to read something sweet for a change.
Himitsu no Kaidan - From the same author as the above. Still haven't read it, but plan to.
Hatshepsut - Shoujo-ai is more of a side part than a central theme.
Claudine - It's good if you don't mind the '70s art style.
Free Soul, Love My Life, Indigo Blue, Sweet lovin' baby are all by Yamaji Ebine and are as realistic as you can get.
Kamisama Onegai, Not All Chicks Are Retards, Hands Off My Girl are by Minami Q-ta and I recommend them all.

And the last but not the least, Aido, my favourite. The author Onozuka Kahori writes a lot about homosexuality but most of her works aren't scanlated yet.

Shoujo sect (Pretty much porn. Though I'd say it's porn aimed for women so it's somewhat different from normal hentai)
Applause

Gay and Lesbian couples in the same manga;
Loveless [Warnings; contains pedophilic relationship, child abuse, sexual abuse etc. etc.. ]

Kind of;
Hourou musuko [Main chara is a transgender girl. She is physically male, but othervise 100% female. She has a relationship with another girl. Story is mainly about a transgender boy and girl as they come to terms with being born in the wrong gender, though.]
