Hmm everything that comes to mind are either animes, or shounen ai which i don't think you read. Here's the animes that come to mind though. The animes are finished I don't know if the manga are..

Emma 's definitely a good read, but I wouldn't really consider it warming due to the social issues it addresses and all of the conflicts in it.
It's not on your list, but GTO is one I'd recommend. Though it does have some of the "actiony" stuff you wanted to avoid.
I second Honey and Clover, but I'd recommend the anime due to the lack of scans and the fact that its licensed (unless you can read raws for the manga).
