hey guys and gals, i wanna ask you.

among the mangas that you have read so far, what are those scenes or parts that you could consider a "heart breaking" moment?

NOTE:

when we say heartbreaking moments, it doesn't only refers to a part where a guy or gal is dumped. it also include:

  1. when they would be separated from one another;
  2. when there is a confession yet a a very romantic event;
  3. when someone important dies;
  4. when expectations are not met (also known as "failures" 😉 ;
  5. and other scenes that moves your heart.

post as many as you want....

(for those who haven't read the series that would be posted here, there will be spoilers here....)

I know its cheezy and I know those who hate the series wont care or yell at me but at the expense of spoiling it for those who havent read it yet,

I was torn up when Jiraya died in the Naruto manga series, he was an ecchi sage...he was my favorite character

here's my list:

Ichigo 100%

  1. when Manaka Junipei and Nishino Tsukasa separated for the second time in order to pursue their respective dreams.
  2. when Toujo Aya finally confess her love to Manaka Junipei after the 34th Cultural Festival,

where Manaka decided to choose Tsukasa over Aya

Love Hina
when Urushima Keitaro leaves for U.S. with Noriyasu Seta where Keitaro kiss Naru Narusegawa while she's asleep.

Naruto
when Naruto recalls the time spent with his mentor, Jiraiya, where he cries while holding a popsicle sticks.

i have more but i'll just post it later on.

you're right dude. that was the part where there really is "heartbreaking moment". i totally agree with you.

Don't know if this counts, but I found the ending of Kiss Me Princess to be quite moving. I guess it could be considered a failure of confession(s)? (I'm referring to the almost bonus/epilogue chapter about Shahi...)

The oneshot in Welcome to the Chemistry Lab, V2 CH5, when he opens the letter and the four leaf clover falls out.

I mean, if there wasn't someone in the same room as me, I would've cried.

sacrifices dignity

Quote from sycoal

I'm not even a big Naruto fan (I stopped reading after it became... boring.) but when someone told me that, I freaked out. I had to read the chapter. I mean, he was the best part of the series.

I respect manga and anime where characters die without warning, or at least have realistic consequences from having ridiculous powers (example - the ending of Zeta Gundam, or to a less harsh extent, Kenshin). The stories where everyone lives forever end up ridiculously overpopulated for one thing, so the guy writing it has no clue what to do with the characters... (example: Bleach)

However,

Judeau dying in Berserk gets me every time. The little guys dying without anyone noticing they were significant at all is more heartbreaking than any predictable sensei-character's death... Considering how many main characters die horribly in that chapter it's a sign of storytelling genius that any of them is more upsetting than the rest, or even has character development..

And that naruto spoiler did really upset me when I first read it a few months ago (as well as Asuma, which was in the same forum, although they were making it kinda obvious in the anime by then anyway), because yeah, he is the best character in it, but then that is my fault for reading these threads. It seems like so many people have cracked from the Naruto anime being too slow and read the manga that they think everyone knows, and don't even bother with spoiler tags. Also makes me think that the mangaka will kill even kill Kakashi off at some point.

The epic finale to Akira,

where Kaneda is reliving Tetsuo's memories. In particular, the scene where Kaneda meets Tetsuo as a kid in a playground for the first time, and when the whole memory starts to disappear, Kaneda is crying and trying to drag him back.

first thing that comes to mind:
Kekkaishi

Gen dying. Not just the event itself but expecially when Yoshimori goes all revenge/crying-crazed when he thinks about it

Gunslinger Girl wins in my book.

All the scenes with Angelica right before she dies made for the most emotional content I've ever read in a manga

Call me lame and loserly, but the scene when

Night dies in Absolute Boyfriend broke my heart too.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I pretty much never stopped crying the entire time I was reading Full Moon wo Sagashite.

One Piece: -when Sanji recalled his meeting with Zeff (vol. 8 I think)
-when the crew parted with Going Merry
This is the one title emotional enough to make me cry
