i think the coverage in my area was pretty fine ^^ considering the fact only channel 1 covers it, and some of it was due to the generosity of foreign cams ^^
you know guys.....NBC website has the whole thing on the web....you could've just gone online. They got that High Definition version on line too.
It's tempting to see if the NBC web coverage of the opening and the torch lighting was better than the TV broadcast but I just don't like the idea of installing the Microsoft beta Silverlight system on my PC even as a removable plugin.
Even if they do have the better footage from the other broadcasters it still wouldn't change my gripe about the 12 hour internet/TV blackout of the opening that NBC imposed on the eighth. The least they could have done was list it as taped instead of falsely listing it as live.

Unfortunately, I only watched the NBC "live" coverage. That it was taped was sucky. My sister back in Panama (the country) saw it live.
The opening ceremony was absolutely amazing and probably the most elaborate, artistic and over the top you'll ever see. Just for that, you should appreciate it and be glad you got to see something like that.
I won't make a comment about how much money was spent or the political repercussions or lack thereof. 🙄 The Olympics are not the place for those debates and allowing ourselves to be pulled in those directions goes against all the Olympics represent.
I do wish coverage for more sports were available (USA won all medals in fencing but I did not get to watch a single match) and less sappy commentaries from NBC were added. So I guess coverage is OK but I wish for a lot more.
Yes, I am greedy 😁 but hey, is every 4 years or 2 if you consider Winter Olympics that I usually watch as well...

The cable coverage actually isn't bad in comparison. It's all delayed in the U.S. but at least it doesn't have as much of the human interest crap. Seeing a session of Olympic handball made me wonder why the sport isn't played in the U.S. more often. It actually looked like a fast paced mix of soccer and basketball. Quite entertaining.
I don't think our expectations are greedy so much as overly optimistic. We know the technology is available for anyone with an internet connection to be able to see every event anytime right when it starts but no state or corporation has the will to make it so.
Quite the contrary, they likely have an interest in finding ways to fubar attempts at that type of distribution; whether it is because they want to advance video monitoring/ censoring technology or they want to be able to divide streaming media into regions the way they do with DVDs. This was a definite blow to net neutrality. Makes a person want to support P2P more and more.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen anyone else except white people riding dirt bikes.
Next thing you know Nascar is gonna be in the Olympics... 😲
With regards to the white people and dirt bikes.... James Stewart, current AMA motocross champion is black.... I ain't white and I ride MX as well.
With regards to the Nascar comment... NOOOO!!!!! I'm a motorsport fan but the last thing I wanna see is a bunch of redneck 'juniors' driving farm machinery in circles.... Indycars, I don't mind.... but not the damn Nascar turds.

At least it's vastly better than living in denial with Windows..... and Silverlight has proven to be flawed on many levels.

It's sucks, I had to buy a dvd from Chinatown the next day. Oddly pretty good quality. 6$ FTW!

Dude name one thing that is so good about MicroSoft.. like Window Vista... start supporting Vista and then a few month later all their updates are all stopped... Now look they start a another OS system called Windows 7/Fuji forgetting Vista. All they want is to make money by creating new and better programs. I admit that Mac is trash but Linux is the best OS ever created... get your facts straight and learn something about programming/computers before you talk about them 😔 😔 😔
