I pronounce it as Mah-n-gah.
Why is the choice "monga" for the Japanese/"real" way? I read it as m-ohn-ga at first and figured that was wrong as well.

I usually pronounce the 'ma' part with an 'a' that almost sounds like 'aw' in 'yawn'. I then usually hold and stress the 'n' as it it were written 'mannga'. I pronounce the 'a' in 'ga' fairly similar to the one 'ma' with a little bit less emphasis placed on it.

Exactly like it sounds like in spanish, adding some more emphasis in the last "a". Heard some people that know japanese pronounce it and it sounds nothing like "monga" Ô_Ö

I never though that people would actually pronounce it in such weird ways. Manga is manga, I'd pronounce monga as もんが。English makes no sense...

Originally, I pronounced it 'manga', but when someone told me the proper way, I switched - what if I ever met a real Japanese person, and I was unable to prove my otaku status because I said 'manga' the wrong way? ...Not that I'd be able to converse properly with said Japanese person, since I regretfully don't speak the language, but still =P

I spent a year pronouncing it wrong before my otaku friend corrected me (I am proud to say I now say it properly and correct others as well). But sometimes, random people try to "correct" me, and don't believe me when I say monga is the actual correct way. ._.
It's a hard battle.

Actually, now that I think about it, I pronounce it more like "maiga"
I have a habit of skipping some consonants.

<.< It says to specify how I pronounce it. I pronounce it both ways, I've added a question to Answers Yahoo about this exact topic and someone responded with a URL of this link.

Basically... to me... if you pronounce Anime (Anna-may) you CANT get onto someone saying (Mayn-guh)....
English:
Anime: (Anna-may)
Manga: (Mayn-guh)
Japanese:
Anime: (Awn-knee-may)
Manga: (Mawn-guh)
The japanese only have one pronunciation per vowel. it's AWN-KNEE-MAY.... and so long as you say Anna-may... I... and I encourage everyone who does it..... Pronounce it MAYN-Gah

Lol. I have no idea if the way I pronounce it its right or not, and I don't care that much.
Mawn-guh/Meang-gah... Yes, that's how I pronounce manga, and sometimes I just go with how I say mango, only that change the 'o' to a 'ah'. =___=;

Really?
I've watched some animes where it is pronounced as "anna-may"
On a side note, when I put up the pronunciation "monga", I meant something along the lines of "m-ong-ah" with the "ong" as in "kong". But I am too lazy to change the poll, and if I did, the results would be messed up. Please bear with me though

You know...
I've watched a mini-documentary about that...
The word anime comes from the English word animation, and since Japanese people find it hard or whatever to pronounce the word animation, they say anime...
And it has become the common word for their cartoons...
Although I just pronounce it anime, not animey.
