Romance where the main couple breaks up (spoilerish)

I'm in the mood for something a little bittersweet. Can anyone recommend a romance manga where there is an established couple, and during the story they break up?
Examples would be
Futaba and Yuuki in Salad Days, Sunadokei, or Suzuka
Also that it is part of the story, and not a last chapter twist. Seinen or shounen preferred, but josei or realistic shoujo is okay. As to whether they get back together again or not, either is fine.
I would not include bed-hoppers like
Haru Yo Koi or Nana
I'm looking for a main couple; if I need a flowchart and a protracter to figure out who's with who, it doesn't count.
Thanks

I only watched the anime, so can't say for sure for the manga, but I thinks it happens in Bokura ga Ita (maybe someone will confirm it).
It also happens in Ichigo 100% (I'm not a fan of the manga though and I don't qualify it as a bittersweet manga at all).
What I like in Trivial Pursuit style. Pick your category:

The title is called paradise kiss.
That one is like the last chapter(s) thing, probably not what the OP is looking for.

The title kizku was thinking of is Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai.
Didn't care for it much, but maybe Egaku Nara Happy Ending.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've started looking at them.
Though I am suprised that most of them are josei or shoujo, since before this I saw this situation mostly in seinen mangas (or maybe it's because I read more of them).
More suggestions would be welcome.

Mars <--- shoujo, by the same mangaka of ESand Cesare 😉
Already mentioned in the thread, but Bokura Ga Ita is a little gem, worth a try. Don't let the cute, simple art fool you.
You're So Cool <--- not exactly realistic - the art is a love or hate thing too - , but quite funny. Some (very light -->a kiss) shonen-ai on a side couple.
Seinen... there's the currently being scanlated Natsu no Zenjitsu that seem a likely candidate
it's a prequel. In the Mizu no Gin volume the main couple is already broken

There are some old school shoujo titles fitting the bill that pop to mind, not sure they are your cup of tea though XD
Haikara-san ga Tooru
Kaze no Sonata
