The characters and plot are not predictable! It rocks having to read a manhwa that you know the plot is new or at least has a spin in it.
The art is actually quite good. <3

For example: Bring it on!, Moon Boy, Goong, Saint Marie, Operation Liberate Men, Animal Paradise, King of Hell, 1/2 Ouji, Comic, Full House and Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Si-Do.
I can keep on going and going since I'm a big fan of manhwa. <3

I'm with the OP and the guy above me on this. Many of the manhwa scanned by kmts and Meep scans are of good quality. ID is another great manhwa that takes a pretty basic plot and advances it really well.

The art is also a refreshing change and it seems cleaner, too.

Edit: Also what Domon said; The main characters in manhwa more often than not actually posses a spine.

It's just you.

no, no, no.
as you have probably found out, it's not.

i think the artwork is soo beautiful. i admit was a little weirded out when i first bought a manhwa because of the strange and confusing names, but i remember thinking, "the art! the art is so original and unlike anything i've seen before and so beautiful."

..and if you don't think that a TON of manga either has the same cliches or the same artwork style, you haven't been reading manga too long, or you haven't read a lot.

I remember when I read my first manhwa, Model; I thought everything was ugly. xD (No offense of course). It's probably due to long time exposure of Japanese manga. I also wasn't really use to the "mood" or "vibe" I get from reading manhwas, it was different that's for sure. But I didn't know if I liked it or not. In the end, it didn't disappoint me. (:

After a while, you'll eventually get use to it and when you really analyze it, the Korean styles aren't bad at all. 🙂

Take: The Bride Of The Water God & Angel Diary for example. Stunning art and nice plot~

Manhwas && mangas are pretty much equal. Though perhaps manga might be a little higher on the popularity scale.

But I do recommend manga readers to try manhwa if they haven't already.

It's not better. They're equal in terms of entertainment value. It's just another form of media. .___.

Also I don't like UnbalanceX2 or Aflame Inferno at all. Immortal Regis is good though.

That is def. not the case. The best manhwa easily pale in comparison to the best manga.

Aflame Inferno, Immortal Regis, ID? Those manhwa are decent at best and on the same level as many decent-ish shounen manGa series.

Don't tell me you think these series are better than Vagabond? BotI? LWaC? Real? Berserk? Historie? etc. rofl.

The only good manhwa, who are on a similar level are Dangu, Ares and Priest, still nowhere near the ones I mentioned though. The shoujo series might be on par with manga, I have no clue (and don't care about that genre anyway), but seriously maybe you should start and read some quality manga and not the Shounen Jump shi..., excuse me, series?!

I'm sure there are some manhwa that are really good, maybe they've not been scanlated yet.

As for me, I've not found anything (manhwa, western comics...etc) that comes close to Nijigahara Holograph or Mushishi.

is about proportion.
there are less manwha than manga translated, so there are more "boring" manga than manwha out there for us to read.
the cliche thing is obvious that if you have read more than 100 manga, some things start to repeating. Manwha must have some cliche too, just that I still don't know them.

and in the end, is just a matter of taste.

There are tons. While I like that shoujo manwha heroines tend to have more spine/attitude/sense then their shoujo counterparts, they're still pretty much the same stereotypes, and the dynamics play out the same way. Plus, I sometimes think that there are maybe three or for shoujo manwha authors who even get scanlated often, so of course a lot of the stuff is similar.

I think Bride of the Water God (which yeah, awesome art, but that can be found in any genre) and Goong are awesome for their soap factor, which I do think is much more intricate and interesting than any shoujo manga out right now, but I haven't read too many of the shoujo soaps that play on that level (politics/economics/countries),

I'm agreeing that it's just the proportion game. Less people are interested in manwha, so there's less incentive to scan everything in site, so less dreck gets picked up.

i just checked the reading list of the topic starter. this guy obviously has almost no seinen experience so how should he know about manga if he hasn't read any of the big seinen series, yet? all i see are dumb mainstream series, of course he would make such a remark.

if ur talking about overall whats been scanlated manwha wins because only the best have been done however most manga is easily better then manwha whether ur talking about story line art character develop etc... the better mangas have a richness that no manwha has yet been able to match
I'll agree aflame and immortal regis r amazing but compared to some of the beter manga not even the greats it falls pale in comparison

of course this is all my opinion however i think most people can agree that aflame and immortal regis r 2 of the best manwha there r yet when compared to one piece, berserk, death note, initial d, love hina, get backers, hunterXhunter, GTO, air gear, and a plethora of others (i can keep going for hours) manwha can't even compare

I can understand where ur comming from seeing as how lately there arent too many new great manga comming out where as annother great manwha is picked up monthly but although recent new manga have been at a lower quality many amazing manga r still running i wont chastise u for ur opinion but before u make such a rediculous acusation learn the facts and do a thourough job of looking into what ur comparing

...shit i ended up typing alot again srry guys lol

which series? and im not saying all manga is bad, but just every manwha i pick up is really interesting, while every manga i browse through is so cliche it makes my headspin. i could come up with more inspired characters while taking a dump.

@bmiller
well my favorite manwha is UnbalancexUnbalance. and ass for the mangas you just listed
one piece- saw a few anime episodes, didnt seem to be anything special, and any manga that long has to be boring and repetitive.
beserk- amazing, well amazing until everything became centered around magic and each chapter has like 15 pages of random art that doesnt really progress the story.
death note- wtf second arc? once L died so did the story.
air gear- wtf? i liked the anime, and liked the manga, until chap ~150 when it gets all random and self important, like riding around on cool rollerblades is talked about like the the second coming of jesus
love hina- cmon? i saw the anime and it was just uninspired episodic garbage, if the manga is anything similar it cant be good.

in comparison, out of all the manga you listed berserk is the only one that stands out, but i can barely stomach that anymore after it went off the "magical fairy dust" deep end

knocking one piece is blasphemy

i kno it's not for everyone but with all due respect go to hell sir...

manwha's have thier repetative streaks...especially ones like change guy....every time the battles look done some one stand back up...and thier fights are volumes long...And ares...it was interesting...aside from the sub par drawing it had potential...but it's starting to get drawn out and the point is swirling down the drain...Ne ways don't knock one piece because for a maga so oldatleast it's allways coming up with new stuff and knows how to drop a wel written cliff hanger.
