"One Man Army" protagonists in translated supernatural manga/anime

Recently I have been growing more and more annoyed with stories that follow this pattern (about 95% of all supernatural action manga):

  1. Character gets owned by a random henchman of the arc's antagonist
  2. He then proceeds to train and then levels up, beating the henchman
  3. He faces one of the commanding officer in the bad guy's troops: he gets his butt handed to him
  4. He has this random power-up, gets up, beat bad guy, and then faints
  5. He goes through training again to get used to his new found power
  6. He fights main bad guy, barely wins, usually with the support of his friends/belief/determination/etc.
  7. One of the baddies in the next arc comes and hands the hero's ass back to him again
  8. Rinse and Repeat

So, does anybody have suggestions of manga/manhwa/anime that has at least one lead that is able curb stomb everybody except for the strongest ones, aka the "one man army" ones?

Manga/manhwa examples I know of include:
Chromed Shelled Regios
Id
Kaze no Stigma
Hellsing

Anime examples include:
Isekai no Monogatari
Heroic Age
Almost all the Gundams (sadly, this series is always kind of depressing since the only reason why they win half their fights is because the protagonist has a bigger stick than the antagonists. You have to wait half the season just to see the hero winning from piloting ability alone >.>)

Until Death Do Us Part - I'd say Mamoru fits that description.
Zero (MATSUMOTO Taiyo) - Pretty much states this in the description.

I'm sure I've read others, but these are the only two I can recall right now. Neither exactly fits "supernatural action," however (especially Zero, UDDUP at least has one character with precognition).

Berserk Only loses a couple times, Ubel Blatt Has enemies near the same skill level as him, Zetman Can't control his power, Shin Angyo Onshi Sacrificed his power and now has to fight a different way.
... seems like I'm recommending these a lot today.

Noblesse

This guy may be a little to strong for what your looking for since he is kind of the end boss
like he completely owns everyones ass without lifting a finger...
still a good read though and the side characters fights are also very interesting

just one quick thing if you decide to pick up on it don't be the idiot that i was and not notice that even though there are only 4 pages (usually) they are very long pages and end up being like 30 pages per chapter
So make sure to scroll all the way down 🙂

Shuto Heru YES!
The Breaker 😀
Claymore She does struggle against enemies(but only as you said, the super strong boss type ones), but whenever she wins it's generally because of her own will/thinking/sacrifices, and not because of some lame-ass reason like friendship. Plus, she never loses outright, because that means death.

These ones are not supernatural, but they're highly recommended anyway;
Ares He basically kicks ass.
Vinland Saga Again, just awesome.

Solo Leveling, is probably one of the most badass one-man army type manhwa.
Try it out, sire.
