Just check it out. The main characters are really obsessed with each other. All in a nutshell, it's an entertaining read.

[ Watashi no... Megane-kun](http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1238)

I see Knife on that list! I'm not sure if you're aware of it, and I'm not sure if it completely fits, since there are some rather light-hearted romance moments, but Kaori Ozaki also serialized another manga after Knife; this time it's a serial story rather than a oneshot collection. It's called Immortal Rain. The story is significantly lighter than the stories in Knife were, but it still has the amazing, thought-provoking topics and well-developed characters that Knife had. I have to stress that the story isn't quite as dark, since some comid elements are interspersed here and there, but it's definitely another masterpiece by Ozaki Kaori.

Try Watashi no . . . Megane-Kun.

Both characters are very obsessed/possesive with each other. It's a pretty dark romance in a sense that both characters shut themselves from the world outside.

Onani Master Kurosawa

For me, I lol'd at the 'dark scenes' because it seemed like a parody of Death Note. I do recommend it for Romance fans however... I just don't think it's that dark... ;P

First of all this is a great topic since I too am looking for a dark manga. I recommend Savage garden It gives off a 'dark feeling' as did flowers of evil.

Hana wa Knife o Mi ni Matou
Yoru Koi
The last three stories Blanc, Kizuato and Izayoi in Sheet no Sukima
Koyoi wa Kimi to Chi no Kiss wo (Yaoi)
Haou Airen - Though some people find Shinjo Mayu's works frustrating...

Don't know about intelligent for any of those though.
