Making it small enough and compact enough while maintaining the desired weight is probably the hardest. Pretty much, it has to be a tiny automatic car on each foot (only 2 wheels though.)
That's awesome that you are good at physics. I think we should calculate the ideal distance (with air resistance) to find the greatest distance one could jump off of flat ground. (I'm pretty sure the perfect angle is 45 degrees) and use that to decide just how much cushioning one would need and then some.
Personally, I think the AT is feasible but the whole, "jump of a tall building and land on the ground with zero injury" is really really not probable. XD
That being said I'm sure there is a distance that the human body can withstand, we only have to find it.

With the human body it is possible to jump from extreme heights but the thing is that "no up, forward" thing.

Ok let me show u an example: Lets take an airplane. If u put it a mile in the air and let it drop, the airplane crashes. but when it goes forward more than down and lands, its in perfect condition.

So as long as the rider maintains speed over gravity, he/she should be able to land without injury.

I see. So we would probably need some type of "spring-board" action that would propel the person forward while going up instead of just up.

why dont you just put a spring pad in the middle and it should go out fine

but of course, just to let u know, the harder gravity pulls u down the faster ur speed will have to be so with AT, realistically, you can only really jump from around 15 feet.

The spring in the middle would not really work unless it was attached to both wheels and even then the force that a human exerts on their feet when they land is different for the back and front so you would need to cushioning systems (1 per wheel) to make it a sure fire way of reducing strain or injury

oic so like for the acceleration we should put a touch pad in the front and back the front to slow down and back to accelerate

yeah, according to the manga, you accelerate by putting more of ur weight on the front then the back.

how come thing thread died all of a sudden? someone post!

That's a big problem for the whole "design AT's" thing. Unless you have a company backing you in some way (legally or financially) it's gonna be tough to protect your design.

You don't necessarily need an engine with high horsepower but rather one with lots of**** torque ****. As it is, motors that would be able to propel a human at a decent speed are quite big. Unless someone has a suggestion for motor that would be very helpful. After that, all that's left is combining it really. We could use gearboxes (just like the 'example', so to speak, in the manga) to give a motor with high rpm into one with low rpm but more torque. By sacrificing speed we get torque. But most of you already know this.(it's pretty basic knowledge.) But the problem is that even if it could move a person, how practical would that be if it 1)Can't be supported by the battery(or batteries) 2) Won't go very fast, and uses up alotta juice 3)or is overall loud, and noisy? We won't be able to make these exactly like AT's because they are fictional! Just like how light sabers, the actual saber, can be made by heating plasma, but takes a whole building of wires and machines to do it, similarly we can make motorized skates, but they generally look ugly compared to AT's. But, if we start out small (so to speak) and don't try to replicate them completely, then eventually we can have an agreeable 'production'. 😃 One sugestion is that we start with these: http://www.theishoes.com/products.html Then, just like the computer and cell phone, we, or some one else, will make them even smaller, faster, more efficient, ECT. Unless I am completely off. Then, please, some one better correct me (I don't like being wrong 😔 ) Also, these motors (if ya don't wanna get Ishoes and rip 'em appart) could be useful some in making a PROTOTYPE, not somthing that'd move a human(unless you do use the motor on the ishoe):http://www.minimotor.com/ing/prodotti/02.htm We could make a prototype, indeed. Using those motors, and if anyone can find a good gearbox, then! Then we would be that much closer. Another crazy idea: We could use magnets. Alternating between positive and negative in arrangement on the wheel, and an electro magnet that switches between +/- to possibly propel a human, but they would have to be a very fricken powerful magnets. 😁

Hey, We need some recruits for our site.. Lightning90 Light Is a Admin. It is a remake of our original site TheAtProject. We now continue its legend as it becomes rotted with spam by making TheAtProject ii.

i love all the ideas on here i think this is really possible now there are a pair of skates called rollerballs im not sure if they are still in production but i think those would be your best design base for the air trek now as far as additional balencing what about a micro giroscope they have them in those two wheeled personal walking things sorry no clue what they are called as for power a simple recharger built in the faster you go the less battery drain kinda like an alternator thats all i have for now

Yeah. A kid on our 1st one kinda ruined it.. Well if you guys wanna join us plz do. We have a few admins(lightning90 included) we are bascally a website based on this topic but organized. Pieces already in the making process. Im doing the boot and maybe frame and we have a guy on the wheels.. we also have business plans being made also by me.. SO i see you guys have a large knowledge and we can always use fresh ideas and good recruits... If you guys do join we will be glad to listen and we will get this done in no time what soever.
