The last volumes of Furuba.

It turned from a fun, fantasy romance into an angsty story with a slow and rather boring plot. I found myself caring way more about the secondary characters, who at least provided some of the humour that the beginning of the series did.

Ouran

I liked the cute series, and I thought Haruhi had a brain, unlike most shoujo heroines. Turns out that she is just as much of an idiot when it comes to love as the rest of them.

In general, I dislike stories like peach girl, nana, hot gimmick, and anything similar to Shinjo Mayu smut.
Shinshi Doumei Cross started out really well, but then burned and crashed.
Fushigi Yuugi -In general, I like Watase Yuu's work, but this one I couldn't stand. Miaka is just too stupid, and I found the plot unbelievable and sometmes just annoying.
Midnight Secretary- I was expecting something more, I suppose. I gave this one up pretty early out of sheer dissapointment.

There are a lot of other 'popular' series that I dislike, but these ones just top the list. Thank goodness that there are plenty of other titles that I love.

VAMPIRE KNIGHT.

Honestly don't see what's so good about it anymore other than the bishies.

Also, any of Shinjo Mayu's work has me questioning...>.>

Midnight Secretary: It's a somewhat decent smut manga, but that's just all it is.

Special A: It's nothing special at all. >_> It's rather annoying with a dense heroine who can't see anything around her and is bent on beating someone...GREAT plotline. sarcasm intended

I am not sure whether Hatenkou Yuugi is that popular. XD

It's a great concept, I have to say. It could have been a much deeper story. But it turns out not making much sense. The author didn't even know what she was thinking while drawing.

Vampire Knight - was good in the beginning (altough i don't like Vampire manga) but slowly everthing just got confused. It's just so messed up. I liked Merupuri by the same author much much better.
Ouran Host Club, Special A and so on.. - just messy, too much is happening.
Every manga by Shinjo Mayu.. just plain bad. and ugly drawn.
Koukou Debut - i got bored by it. i just repeats itslef and the development is just too slow for my taste

Lol! I approve this message, except for Koukou Debut.

Yep that pretty much sums it up, cept Ouran, I just love it because its hilarious. Vampire Knight is incredibly overrated imo. Debut got boring and stereotypical a little ways in. Annnd Nana was just kinda odd for me. Maybe because it lacked comedy -shrug-.

Nobody mentioned something like Uwasa no Midori-kun!!? I think those plots are far worse than vampire knight and they are popular. 🤢

I totally agree with you! I just don't understand why that manga (or anything similar) is populair.............

Koukou Debut seemed kind of non-sensical to me. I disliked the concept and the heroine, though I forced myself to read it till volume 4. I'm sure it has it's merits but I gah... don't like it at all.

Ouran... I have a hate/love relationship with Ouran. The humor is sometimes great and sometimes just plain dumb, things take way too much time to happen and Haruhi, even if she is rather original for a heroine, lacks emotion too much sometimes.

Okay.. hm... let's see....

Vampire Knight... my god, don't even get me STARTED. I read one volume of this crap, and even then, I saw nothing to catch my attention. I would've dropped it by chapter 1, but I thought "maybe what everyone likes about it will come later". Boy, was I wrong.

Wallflower - This one's decent, and I adore it, but it's just TOO long.

I adore Koukou Debut and Hana-Kimi, so damn you all. >.>; Hana-Kimi = <333, KKD = <333

Ouran High School Host Club I totally adore Ouran, but I gotta say, I skipped from volume 4 till like... volume 10. And guess what? Nothing important happens in between.

Special A - KILL ME. Talk about BORING. Hikari is honestly one of the most annoying characters EVER. And Kei? Oh my god, I just want to stab him.

Fruits Basket - I read this series because everyone was "OMFGFURUBAKYAA~", and I wanted to see what was so great about it. I watched the entire part that the anime covered (up to volume 8), and nothing to catch my attention - it was okay, but not spectacular like everyone made it sound. Then I met the side characters, and I fell in love. The main story itself wasn't interesting enough, and I only went through it because the side-character stories were much more interesting. If it weren't for the side chars, I'd have dropped that shit at volume 8.

Shinshi Doumei Cross - GOD DAMNIT HAINE, SHE'S SO ANNOYING. When I read "omfg she was a yankee! great, maybe she won't be so bad as a character". BOY, was I wrong! She's horrible! She's the same as everyone!!!! Holy crap, man, is she ANNOYING. The whole Shizumasa thing Tanemura tried to pass by wasn't as interesting as she intended it to be. I dropped it at the end of volume 4, where my brain was about to explode.

Do you mean the main characters? The "main story" in and of itself basically involved all of the juunishi, and if you found the supporting cast interesting, then that would also encompass the problem for those characters, which would also, in turn, be the same problem (in essence) the main cast is struggling with.

Anyway, basically everything named (with the exception of Fruits Basket and Nana) I can agree with wholeheartedly. I'll have to repeat that **Koukou Debut **was the biggest disappointment for me, only because I expected a lot more from an long-timer in the manga industry such as Kawahara Kazune, especially since I had gone through the ups and downs in **Sensei! **and loved every minute of it.

I couldn't understand what was missing for me in Koukou Debut. And I can't understand why the artwork bothers me. She was really good in **Sensei! **during the last 1/3rd, but maybe it was because they were usually in their school uniform. The outfits in Koukou Debut just made me think she doesn't have any fashion sense. It's like she's trying too hard with something she has little knowledge of, and that always brings forth an inward groan.

Her newest manga "Aozora Yell" suffers from the same problem "artwise" (Ugly character designs, weird hair and all), but at least the interactions between the main characters make up for that.

I do wish more romances without fantasy or action/supernatural elements are written like Nana but less dragging.

Ouran is a comedy. Plot is unnecessary. You might enjoy it more if you think of it more as a sitcom than a drama.

Shinjo mayu's manga- haou airen, Ai Ore- her stuff tends to start off good, but then the girl gets really weak- not really my thing

i couldn't get past the first ch of Shinshi doumei cross

and i don't like mei-chan no shitsuji

or absolute boyfriend- probably because i feel bad for the robot guy and how it'll never happen. so sad 😁
