I had the same expectations you did but it was still good. Not AS good as Hana Yori Dango but still pretty good in its own way.

Also Beauty Pop is shoujo. Shoujo means written toward the female audience. It doesn't mean romance.

Anything by Shinjou Mayu. Her girls act the same, look the same, and never, EVER develop.

The same goes for her men, though I will admit they are hot, I sometimes have a problem with their high sex drives and overly broad shoulders.

Mars - I hate the main characters. Both. The psychology is twisted...

Kodomo no omocha - Don´t like the art, some love staff is needed.

Marmalade boy - art is too simple. Story is too simple.

Kare first love - she was plane, then changed 100%.

Shinshi doumei cross - too complicated. too fancy.

Tokyo crazy paradise - I wasn´t enjoying reading this. The art was bad. There was too much text on too little panels, that took sooo much time. The main story wasn´t too bad, but it needs more drama. Too little love scenes.

edit: I forgot staff from Shimaki Ako, but they aren´t much popular. I think she hates all girls. Her female characters are so stupid, and always cry. I´m talking about Gekka no kimi and Mucha kucha daisuki. Those are my 2 worst shoujos.

I don't like.... Skip Beat! hides I just don't like the art and I find her motivation really pathetic.

Vampire Knight. I don't understand what the hype is about vampires. The plot isn't exactly original. Yuki is annoying. Kaname seems like a creeper for his little sister, and Zero is really emo. (but Zero actually has reasons to.)

I'm just reading it just for the sake of finishing it now. 8|

Peach Girl is pretty disgusting. I can't believe I actually finished it.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama - Couldn't read this. Came a couple of chapters ... then I stopped. Just remember that it was text everywhere and blurry. When I looked at a page I just got a headache. But, maybe I'll read it someday. ^_^

Mei-chan no Shitsuji - I have it on my reading list ... but right now I can't bring myself to read the next chapters, I get the feeling that she is just going to get hurt and cry because of her perfect cough butler.

Well... Every popular manga has its haters.

I didn't like.. Hana Kimi, Skip Beat and Special A. I REALLY didn't like Special A. I mean.. What the hell? Whatever I won't waste my time.

Didn't dislike Vampire Knight enough to hate it. I read up to the latest releases... But never continued. Same with Ouran.

I actually finished MARS. In one day. My head hurt... It was okay... I mean, typical shoujo.

Uh, didn't really like Cat Street either. 🙄

I disagree with people who dislike Kare Kano and Furuba. 😎 Whatever I'm in love with those series FOREVER.

This manga has ALL cliches of a shoujo and the girl who is supposed to be "strong" has to be saved EVERY SINGLE TIME!
I simply HATE that manga -.-

Hana Yori Dango-The girl!!! >[ And the duration, I mean soo many repetitive chapters, and nothing ever gets resolved, on the contrary with each new chapter one new plot device is added to the story. .__.

[m]Skip Beat![/m] - Might be because I dislike these types of shoujo, but no, I just couldn't figure out most of the characters, they weren't interesting enough.

Special A- Boring, no plot development whatsoever. And that one annoying character. >.>

Fruits Basket- Never finished it, but it got kind of boring midway. Overhyped. And Tohru(?) pissed me off a few times. >.>

Peach Girl- There is such a thing as too much. Way too dramatic. Felt like I was reading a soap opera. T^T

Vampire Knight- Erm...just plain bad! O_O And yes the whole vampire thing is overrated. You know it's overrated when your school uses vampires as a theme for a school dance. >___>

Shinshi Doumei Cross - Winner for most hated shoujo ever~ Haine...bah! Most hated female protagonist ever... Shame too since she could have been a well rounded character hadn't it been for all those smaller details that just stood out making them more noticeable than they should have. .__. And the ending...erm yeah. >.>

And pretty much anything by SHINJO Mayu, WATASE Yuu, and TANEMURA Arina. Shinjo Mayu: All her stories start the same and end the same exact way. .__. And all those scenes look the same, the characters just have different hair colors. XD Watase Yuu and Tanermura Arina just have some boring stories imo, and annoying characters. You read one, you've read them all; based on character development and the way the love goes and all that...o__o;;
