I love series like Angel Densetsu, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Midori no Hibi, and Zombie Powder.

I'm looking for more manga where the main character is either a famous villian that turns out to be a misunderstood good guy, or like Midori no Hibi, and Angel Densetsu where their appearance or actions ostracize them because people don't understand them or are trying to change their image as bad people.

Others I've read are that I'd like similar are:
Ocha Nigosu
Change Guy (not my favorite, to fighting oriented)
Beelzebub (ok, doesn't fit exactly, but he isn't a wild savage and doesn't instigate fights, and has a sense of morality in not attacking women.)
School rumble (to an extent, I didn't like the ending)

Anyone have others with this idea as a main part of the plot?

Oh, excluding shoujo where the brooding guy ends up having feelings for the girl, not that they don't fall into the category, just there are to many and they don't interest me.

Ubel Blatt is good, I forgot to say but I've read it. my fault, thanks anyway.

the other one looks more like it's everything else that's not what it's supposed to be, not the hero, or am i mistaken?

Beast master falls into that shoujo romance genre I don't like, thanks anyway. And I've read the other (not a fan, no real character development from the two protagonists).

Just read the first chapter of I'm Doushirou, It's actually pretty good, though the art's not great I like the plot so I don't mind.

Er, that ones plot is a bit out there for me, and I don't like anyhting too sci-fi and if I'm not mistaken by the look of it it's probably very dark. When I say misunderstood main character I don't mean dark but a good guy type thing, but like those up top where the misunderstandings are kind of way out there so that it causes many misunderstandings. Thanks though. I want things where it's the main plot too, it really doesn't seem to fit.

Just finishied what's scanned of I'm Doushirou, It's good so far, just wish the mc wasn't suck an idiot. for some reason I want to watch trigun now (I like the anime better since in the manga hte girls believe he's vash immediately)

Definitely Shina Dark.
I'd say Toradora! at least for the start...
And Elfen Lied, sort of...

Shina Dark is ok, I liked the set up better than the rest of the story, once everyone sort of figures out all at once he's a good guy it got dull for me.

Toradora I've read, it's one of my favorites, sorry I forgot to include it.

Elfen Lied is to dark and violent for me.

They all fit anyway so thanks for the reccomendations.

Sounds like every manga where the guy has to hide is identity/powers from schoolmates/family would fall into that category 😛 like The World God Only Knows, Code:Breaker or Aflame Inferno.

Second this comment. So look for such guys. I haven't read much of Lost+Brain and am not sure whether the guy hides from family/schoolmates. You could read and find out yourself.

And these:
ES
Goth - maybe (it's been long since I read it)
Kurogane - sort of fits, esp. after he gained his new "body"

I didn't mean where they hide themeselves, I meant where people don't understand them. All the series I listed none of them really go out of there way to be something else, they're just judged as something by people who don't know them, and it becomes part of their reputation.

Thanks for the recommendations anyway though

Another one of my favorites, it was canceled on my birthday, and I was pissed... I was so looking forward to some romantic development too.

I think my problem might be I've read to much Manga, it seems I've read almost everything recommended so far. I really wish I could learn Japanese faster, that would open up a whole lot of new material...
