I'm looking for stories that have to do with death or the after life (heaven/ hell etc) in some fashion. So pretty much mangas where the plot is centered around figures such as death gods/ shinigamis/ ghosts/ physics etc etc that have to do with death in some way.

What I've read so far to give you an idea.

death note < death gods
ghost hunt < ghosts/ physics
Dokebi Bride < ghosts/ shamans
Angel Sanctuary angels/ demons/ ghosts etc.
bleach < (not my favorite, but... meh) death gods/ ghosts.
Full Moon wo Sagashite < shinigamis/ ghosts etc.

I've read quite a range of stories, so I'm quite open for any genre suggestions put out. thanks very much!

Just some ideas:

Shin Angyo Onshi -> main opponent can revive dead
Chrno Crusade -> angels/demons
Hikaru no Go -> not probably what you are looking for but main char is a ghost
Full Metal Alchemist -> I only saw the anime though
Shingetsutan Tsukihime -> same as above
Immortal Regis -> it's on my check list, it looks like what you're searching for.

I highly suggest you the first two.
