Romance that deviates from the most obvious choice

Im looking for a romance manga that goes like this..
the main character will have a love interest and that love interest will seem to be the most obvious character he ends up with.. but at the middle of the manga, there would be a newer character then he ends up with that character instead.. any genre is fine.. just no yaoi,yuri,hentai,smut(ecchi is fine though).
Don't only look straight, look also to the sides, usually the essential isn't in front of you, but beside you.

Vampire Knight might be a good example but I think you've read it.
Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari <-- Definitely fits the criteria that you're looking for.
(Read the sequels of that manga to know the development)

Also try Hana Yori Dango by the same author. Although it's longer that CS, I also found it very awesome~
Edit: Whoa! I just noticed that the guy with the green hoodie has the intials of Hana Yori Dango (HYD) 🤣
