As the title explains briefly, I'm looking for a yaoi or shounen ai with a plot that doesn't have to do only with the two characters falling in love. It would be really great if there was an actual plot (as in not romance), with in-between bits of them showing attraction to each other, and eventually admitting it.
A good example is Legal Drug by CLAMP

I'm really into those stuff actually. But the thing is that most of shounen ai/yaoi are focused around the romance going on and not the alternative plot as much.
Well after playing around with categories I found the perfect category for this request. Just look into bromance category with the genres you're looking for; like action, mystery etc etc.
Some of the manga that I came up with and loved them so far are these:

Ilegenes - Kokuyou no Kiseki- amazing art, awesome plot, great characters. What else would you need xD

The Betrayal knows my Name- this one was mehh. I watched the anime first and it ended with...no ending basically. That was why I ended up reading the manga but it's confusing and it gets boring cause they prolong it with useless stuff. But give it a chance. Maybe you'll like it.

diece- the affection between the two guys is so deep in this one, you might as well count it as a shounen ai. But hey, it's AMAZING! I'm loving it so far. Sadly it's not scanlated completely ;___;

Lucky Dog 1 Blast- this one is made from a BL game but there's no romance of any going on in the manga. Still, it has an addicting plot with hot guys o

Noblesse- this....leaves me speechless. It is SO good it's beyond words. The bromance is a bit lighter but the plot is so good! The art, omgosh the art, it's dazzling. Strongly recommended. And just to steams it up a bit, the main character is a hot vampire ^o^

Tokyo Babylon- I read this a long LONG time ago, so I don't really remember much. But it's similar to Legal Drug

Bokutachi Otokonoko- a lot of people say this is masterpiece. But I didn't like it. It got me bored and at the ending I felt like I wasted my time, cause it was just so...blank. Anyways, different people different tastes 😀

Loveless- this one is quite famous actually. It has little arcs going on while the main two characters like each other? I don't even know. Again not my thing lolz.

I haven't read these yet, but the ratings are pretty high.

The problem with this approach is that most of the results are not shounen-ai. Not to say that you don't get a lot of good suggestions this way. Just put on your yaoi goggles and all is good. 😃

BTW, neither Godchild nor No. 6, suggested early, are shounen-ai, though they might be bromantastic.

They are both listed as having a BL subplot and Godchild has the shounen ai tag but it is hard to find a good shounen ai or yaoi with an actual plot , it usually just falls apart later
