I'm sorry for posting two threads in a row! I promise this isn't spam - well, I hope it isn't. 😛

I'm looking for a manga that has an artist-muse romance of some kind. The artist can be a traditional painter or can even be in another kind of creative art, like sculpture, writing, music or dancing. It can be any "art" where the artist is inspired by another person to produce his or her work, and then falls in love with the source of their inspiration (or vice versa, the artist gets inspired after falling in love). In any case, the object of the artist's affection becomes their Muse and becomes necessary to their art - like, they won't be able to produce their art anymore without this Muse around, or the art they produce would be markedly different without this Muse's influence. <3

The only examples I can think of right now are Hakuji, Mars and The Name of the Flower, all of which I loved. Please suggest something like that.

Any genre except hentai or ecchi is ok. Yaoi and yuri are fine as well.

Ashita no Ousama
"Beautiful World" (oneshot in Our Everlasting) and its sequel In the Walnut
Canvas ni Kuchizuke wo
Honey and Clover
Shisei (YOKOBABA Ryo) - muse for one piece of work
Te wo Tsunaide, Sora wo

I'm not sure if there was a muse relationship in these or not, but you might want to check it out:
"The Setting Sun" (oneshot in Itsutsu no Hako no Monogatari)
Turning Point (TAKANAGA Hinako)

And finally, there is a lovely BL oneshot about a young artist who is in a slump. He paints a butterfly on a board, and a boy who is walking by first thinks that it is real and comes to take a closer look at it. The boy inspires the artist to paint again. I can't remember the title, but I'd love to find out again. Does anyone know?

THANK YOU, Allez! I'd never read that! And thanks to the others also. 🙂

Yes, I remember reading that butterfly oneshot, Odette! It was so beautiful. Now if only I could remember the name...! I hope someone here will remind us lol.

More yaoi:

K no Kouzu might work as might that arc in Sex Pistols with the sculptor in an American art school... There was a very steamy sequence (steamier for being non-smutty, if I recall!) of the sculptor "feeling" the shape of his Muse through silk pyjamas... Guh. _

It might be weird to put food in here but A Love Song for the Miserable has a chef whose Muse is another human being... I mean, for coming up with new dishes and stuff. It's surprisingly fraught.

Destinies Cross has a MUTUAL musical artist/muse relationship (both musicians inspire each other).

Pink (TAKAGUCHI Satosumi) and Suteneko no Karute both have pornographic artists/writers who become dependent on their Muses - but not necessarily in a "shallow" smutty way, I mean something deeper. (Or just plain weird, like in Pink?)

Thank you for all your recs, everyone! I'm hoping to find more shoujo/josei/seinen with these themes as well.
