As a child he was influenced by TEZUKA Osamu and FUJIKO Fujio (A), especially Manga Michi from the latter.

He is the eldest son of a Jodo Shinshu monk, his house is a Honganji temple. This was later incorporated to oneshot Bachi-Atari Rock and was a prototype version of Rokudenashi Blues.

Morita began submitting his work to the magazine at the age of 15 when he was in high school. His debut work "IT'S LATE" was published in Fresh Jump, and received Honorable Mention at the 27th Tezuka Award. He also received Honorable Mention at the 29th Tezuka Award for his oneshot Mysterious Kid.

When he came to Tokyo, he actually wanted to be HOJO Tsukasa’s assistant, he feels that Hojo’s drawings was similar to his. But Hojo refused, because he already had enough assistants. Later Hojo introduced him to HARA Tetsuo instead, he worked as an assistant on Hokuto no Ken for 1 year. His drawings can be identified by the details of the character’s mouth and lips, and later become one of his distinctive traits. He also inspired by TANIGUCHI Jiro and IKEGAMI Ryoichi when he saw their works at Hara’s place.
As for comedic pattern he draws influences from KOBAYASHI Makoto of 1 2 no Sanshirou and What’s Michael? fame.

His major works Rokudenashi Blues, Rookies & Beshari-Gurashi has all adapted to live-action.

Among his former assistants there are KISHI Daimurou, TSURUOKA Nobuhisa, IWATA Yasuteru, TAKE Yoshihito, ITOU Makoto, SONODA Tatsunosuke, OOTA Fumihiko, TANAKA Akira & NAGATOMO Kenji.
Oh! Great once applied to be his assistant.

He is close with Tsunomaru, who is also a Hanshin Tigers fan. He also has good relationship with OBATA Takeshi, they collaborated on oneshot Hello Baby in 2007. Fellow Hara Tetsuo’s former assistant TODATE Shingo is his friend.
In August 2018, he formed a mangaka manzai combination with OSADA Yu-Ko and participated in the M-1 Grand Prix. They reached the quarterfinals and received the Best Amateur Award. TANAKA Hikaru and WADA Radio participated in oogiri event organized by him.
