Plot/Story

Milk Crown is shoujo series written by the manga-ka Mizuto Aqua.
The story starts off with our heroine, Tachibana Oto. She is to become the new work-in maid for the Ryuu Palace dormitories for the students of Class Z. The people of Class Z are you're not-so-average Idols, actors and all-round rich guys. They are "the Elites of the Elites". With Jin as the 1st year student dormitory head, what relationship does he have with Oto?

Characters

Tachibana Oto - Your average, extreamly dense, 15 year old work-in maid. She is a first year High School student in Class Q. Oto grew up in an orphanage and she is working as a maid hoping to earn her own money for the school fees. Her special ability is cooking and cleaning.

Goryuukanda Jin - Jin is the Ryuu Palace Dormitory Head. He is also in his first year of High School but is in Class Z. Although he gets into fights nearly everytime he steps outside, Jin is a very kind and smart person. Jin also has a pet shark that he keeps inside Ryuu Palace, called Lady.

Aizawa Yamato - A classmate of Jin's and also an Idol of the famous group, IZANAGI. He looks like a girl at first but is nothing of the sort once you get to know him. Yamato's a cool character and likes to play tricks on people for his own amusment.

Nagi Takeru - Another Student from Class Z. Nagi is an Idol and Yamato's partner in IZANAGI. Together they star in drama's together and concerts they put on. He is a nice guy but tends to speak his mind a little to often for his own safety.

Saionji Ukyou - From Class Z as well, Ukyou is a fashion designer and has the heart of a woman. He is in love with Jin. Ukyou also tends to become a victom of Oto's extream dense-ness.

Rokumeikan Toki - Also a 1st year student of Class Z, on the outside is Jin's fiance but on the inside is nothing more than his good childhood friend and rival. She was trained to be the best wife possible for Jin and her cooking looks good on the outside but has a deadly killer taste. Toki apparently has no sense of taste. She is really strange but a good friend to rely on.

Drawing Style

The drawing style is very good but tends to lean over to the more comical side. Oto is draw more comical most of the time due to her dense-ness. The manga-ka makes great use of screen tones and minor details in the senery and in serious scenes.

Enjoyment

This manga is very enjoyable if you like a more than your average school romance manga. The range of intesested readers tends to be small but is still a great read. Oto and the other Ryuu Palace student's antics are sure to keep you interested all the way through.

Overall

Overall, Milk Crown is a very good manga and very amusing. The characters are well thought out and the story's plot tends to go more comical a lot of the time. There are only 2 volumes though.

If you liked Milk Crown, the manga-ka has made two sequals to date. Milk Crown H (High) goes further into Oto and Jin's relationship after Milk Crown and like-wise Milk Crown Lovers goes even further into Oto and Jin's relationship after Milk Crown H and a few other character relationships from Milk Crown and Milk Crown H.
