5 Volumes (Complete)

The world of .hack//G.U.+ isn’t cozy or inviting. Most stories centered on video games give us something to escape to. A lush universe, cozy characters, maybe wild and goofy antics where we can relax and enjoy the ride. There’s a certain comfort to watching these epics quests or seeing fools triumph over adversity. The story of teenage Haseo doesn’t touch upon either of things; instead, he’s out to avenge his old flame as a player killer after she falls into a coma when playing the game together. On the plus side, there are intriguing mysteries sprinkled in that keep us interested and Haseo isn’t your ordinary innocent do-gooder. There’s also tons of fun action, from revenge killing to dues ex machina power ups, plus a sweet (if underdeveloped) romance.
All the genre ingredients are there, so what happened? Unfortunately the heavy focus on complicated lore over deeper character work prevents any sort of satisfying emotional payoff. Haseo’s motivations don’t always align with his actions, making him extremely hard to relate to. The final arc is also sloppily paced and feels slapped on just to get a conclusion.
Despite the missing pieces, .hack//G.U.+ contains solid framework for an interesting sci-fi mystery. It shoots for a compelling revenge story but struggles to stick the landing.
This series is amazing!! The ending was pretty good, and if it had gone a little deeper into
Ovan's character ! it might've been classified as tragedy I wish it had, I love that genre x]
By the way, just buy the manga if its liscenced, there is no point in reading it online unless its like King of Thorn, Recast, insert other hard-to-find series here. This is a very popular series and you should just buy the books. This is a great series so, if you like .hack// so much, shouldnt you give them some $$ for their work? Reading it online when you could buy it kinda shows you dont care too much for the series :/
The sub group that does .hack series has quit! they stop 4 months ago but they just anounce it last month on there forums if you guys are true fan, you will find someone get the rest out....
The most interesting one from all .hack series, but still quite simple plot which makes it average...
It's a really great series! And what's more to say is that the art is great as well. It does help that Haseo looks a lot like Sasuke and the voice actor of Haseo and Sasuke are one and the same! <3
But anyway, sticking with the main idea here, if you've played the game already, I advise you to read this anyway. Because I am a gamer (who plays dot hack games thoroughly) and it's pretty easy to notice that things in this manga and the video game aren't exactly the same. It has a great many differences yet following the same lines and procedures the game has.
Also, it even gives you more info on the characters meaning that it shows what's going on with them in reality not just the game. Which is something the PS2 game lacks on some parts. I mean seriously, Kite says "I'll log off for the day." but Haseo says "I'll check my e-mail or the boards." Dude!! It's like he's inhuman!!!!! Only in cartoons, people....
P.S. - You seriously need to give this a shot. You may feel lazy, but that's why laziness isn't a good thing.
this i have to say is gonna be 1 of the best .hack series of them all especially with the game coming out but this manga pwnz the story pwnz the fights pwnz and haseo pwnz especially the fact he is famous as a pkker
