Description
From Tokyopop:
14-year-old Rin Amami is a gifted dancer who has been forced to give up his dream of becoming a singer like his mom because of his deep, frog-like voice. A chance encounter with the idol singing group Beatmen, however, gives him the opportunity to bring his old dream to life.
Despite its oddness, his voice possesses a certain charisma: a captivating power, recognized by some as the legendary 'Dragon Voice.' Rin's destiny becomes intertwined with the Beatmen, Shino, Goh, Toshi, and Yuhgo, as the smalltime idol agency RedShoes attempts to take them to the top!

Fun!

I was rereading this manga again the other day. It's depressing that TokyoPop never released the last volume and I wish someone would translate it online so I can know the ending.

And I wished it was an anime, because I can totally see this as a music anime. The characters looked like they are having tons of fun singing and I would love to hear how it goes in the anime or at least a drama CD.

I never thought that I'll give this manga 10 rate...
The story is captivating, no slow-plot, with strong-willed main chara.
It's different from other kind manga that have the same kind of plot stories (stardom, singer, boyband), i found it not cliche and the development of the chara is good.
anyway, I recommended it >.<

Boy Band through Musicbiz

Wew, after I've finished with her previous work (Harlem Beat). I'm shocked at this project.

The story about a young boy who entered the entertainment business, learn from zero and last become a greatest singer with his fellows in a Boy Band group. Well, the falsetto that he sing in the end of volume ... remind me about Jonsi of Sigur Ros.

Btw, this is shonen manga after all not shonen-ai, yaoi, etc ...

Mangas about show business was always a favorite of mine and in this case, the mangaka did not disappoint. The manga just SCREAMED shounen, and THAT was certainly different from the other rise to stardom shoujo mangas I've read. (Skip Beat and Full Moon anyone?)

To tell you the truth, I was a bit wary of the fact that it's hard to express singing in manga. Of course, it's also hard to tell if the singers are harmonizing. However, the mangaka pulls it off in a very original way. I enjoyed this manga very much and it's very refreshing.

The rise to Stardom

I've always been a sucker for the "rise to stardom" plot, but this time, it was interesting to see the boy band part of it... and not the totally bishounen, super big eyed, shoujo love story up the butt or shoujo secretly smutty stories, etc, etc.

Instead, Dragon Voice is about a boy Rin who despite his rough "dragon voice" enters the entertainment business and becomes a star. Most of the focus is on character development and growth rather than romance (though there's a bit of that too) so it's refreshing for a change.

Definitely one of my top 20 mangas to read ^^
