This manga is a wonderful mix between comedy and tragedy, something that's rarely done so well. Over the course of these eleven volumes I grew to love and care deeply for almost all the characters, and it was hard to say goodbye. Nonetheless this series is breathtaking and there's something in it that's so pure and honest. The story's not boring at all, either, and it was sure a ride to read through all of these. You really get to know the "villain", too, which I greatly appreciated. With such a beautiful story, along with its own twists and turns, and also compelling and complex characters, this series ranks in one of my all-time favorites. It's weird to say this, but this manga made me cry and laugh at the same time, literally, because I'm so overcome with my emotions. And when everything hits at once (at the climax), I just couldn't stop my tears, and yet I'm happy for all of the characters. This is a beautiful and well-done piece. I hope to read more of this mangaka's work in the future.

after a LONG wait, finally i can read vol 9 + i loved this series when i first read it back then now i'm gonna read it all again strongly recommend this manga! you wont be disappointed
This was the first shoujo romance I ever read (I really dislike the genre, but finally decided to give it a shot) and it'll probably be the last...cause nothing of the genre can compare! I just love this manga. And this is coming from someone who hate shoujo romance
11 of 10
this is one of the best mangas I've read so far... there are some parrallels with Trinity Blood (which is my number one favourite) and somewhat reminds me of Chrno Crusade (amazing manga!), the plot is simplier, though it doesn't make IR less fascinating and/or addicting!.. I absolutely love the shojo/shonen mix, imo it's the best way to portray the story, because it captivates both male and female readers. This choice of genres fixes the general problem of manga which is mostly too boyish or too girlish, i.e. either lacks feelings between the characters, when you hope to find them or lacks action and is to sugarly sweet. In brevi, I would put 11 if I could.

Is this seris on Haitus?
The last vol. to come out was vol. 8 and that was in 2007. Did the author drop the series? I hate it when authors do that, especially when it's a super cool manga. This happened with Magic Kaito, Millenium Snow, WANTED, and quit a few other series.
I honestly didn't expect much from this series when I first picked it up. The only reason I bothered to look at it was because of its positive user rating. Turns out the series is pretty awesome! I really like the relationship development between Rain and Machika. Not only is the romance great, the plot is pretty awesome too! My only beef with it is that Catch-22 issue with the antagonist.
-: One of the best :-
I also thought that it wouldn't be so good before i started to read it. But now I know better! This manga is one of my favourites. I love every minute of it. If it doesn't come out here, I will definitely buy it! Maybe I'll buy it just so that I have it in my bookshelf, so that I can read it over and over again. ^_^
can I cry?
Like I said, can I cry?
Well, this is.. so far.. manga that can create tear in my eyes. I couldn't stop feeling sorrow and sadness when Rain started to recall back his memories 600 - ago. It was so heart breaking and to think he can still smile all the way in his 624 Years Old. ( I recommend to listen to Close Your Eyes song while reading this manga). Seems like he smile all the way long but keep the sadness in his heart. How heartbreaking is that?
On happy side, Rain is sooo eye catching and worthy to drool. He has everything and whole perfect package for you to dream about him every night. I couldn't stop laughing when there's time he make silly big grin and stupid things. He seem's childish but on the same time someone you can relied on. How sweet is he?
For the author, I praised Ozaki Sensei. I don't know that female mangaka can create something "shounen" like but have shoujo element in it. The art was perfectly neat, the storyline get along well and also the way Ozaki Sensei expressed everything in this manga.
The reason this manga got 10/10 ( i shud give 10.5 grrr.. ) is :- 1. The art <-- coz' I care about it sooo much before start reading the manga 2. perfectly character development and expressions 3. the storyline and plot goes well and the manga genre know where to show up it's not something show up any time 4. the atmosphere. Read it. Then you know what I'm talking about. (special reason )5. that can create tear in my eyes? Nuff said.
And, I couldn't help it. I love "PURE ROMANCE" type of manga
Very nice manga
I really like the art in this one. Also, the fact that there's a human element to it all makes the story even better than most mangas out there. Following your heart doesn't always get you what you want here, and yet they do it anyways. I love it. The relationship between Rain and the others is played out well, I think. Distinct emotions put into actions and words unspoken go a long way in this one. Overall I give it a 10!
Never kill the bad guy
So, in reading this manga, you should know a couple things. First, the good guys are always attacked, and when they fight back, they never kill the bad guy. It doesn't matter what horrible things they've done, it doesn't matter how many people they've killed. Good guys can't kill the bad guys. Just because it would mean they would save lots of lives, doesn't mean they should actually take the life of someone bad. If you understand this, then you understand Immortal Rain.
Theres a lot of other stuff to the story. The romance between Machika and Rain. The relationships between the other characters as well. I give the story points for that. But what it really comes down to is, bad guys doing bad things, and no one stopping them.
