Description
From Adachi's Universe:
We start with our main protagonist, Shichimi, bidding farewell as he readies for his journey into Edo (on our Earth, Edo was the old name of Tokyo before it became the capital of Japan). His mother has just died, only leaving him a walnut and a request for him to go to his half-siblings. Shichimi bids farewell to a sternly old man, who is a firefighter. We can tell this from the symbol on his cloak. This symbol is also on Shichimi's cloak. Upon reaching the town of Edo, Shichimi meets a mysterious man, who ridicules the peace of the world as an illusion.

Jokes are quite lame and repetitive, breaking the 4° wall in particular. Chars are a re-flush of any other char in other series which doesn't help with originality. The story is ok yet it's hectic and a lot of crazy stuff happen just for the sake of it. And that rushed ending, as it wasn't selling and had to give it a closure asap, so when the interesting part of the story is revealed its given little to none use.
Adachi always had some issues with liking repetitive jokes and situations but he certainly went overboard in this one. I recommend reading other of his mangas which are mostly great.

well i cant say that this manga had a nice ending, but i liked everything else. The romance was more hinted then it actually happening. Niji Iro Togarashi could have had a bit more volumes to it cause it semmed like it was rushed. i thoroly enjoyed it though

Highly reccomended but unlike the first review, I didn't care as much for the ending.
This series starts up really well, but once the characters get introduced, it seems to be heading in a random direction, or at least take a whole lot of detours, trying to reach its goal. I have to say that a couple of times into the series that I lost a lot of interest in the work.
Thankfully, the sense of direction picks up slightly more once the characters go on a trip (you'll understand when you'll read it).
Another issue imo are the characters: there are quite a few characters in this series that gave me the impression that Adachi threw them in as a joke, but then didn't know what to do with them. Especially the "evil" leaders.
That being said, I'm rather satisfied with the ending. It's very simple, doesn't answer much, yet I can't fault it.

One of Adachi's best. Great blend between action and comedy. Romance is inobtrusive, only adding depth to the otherwise weak plot. However, the characters from Adachi more than make up for the lack of cohesive storytelling. Damn cute kids, especially Sanshou, the greatest ninja under a foot tall.
one of the best adachi manga.... anyway his manga never been dissapointed, always top notch. story will get better and the ending is good
