The summary may be sketchy, but you really can't go wrong with Ootsuki Miu's brand of gentle romance. It's a feel-good slice-of-life with a surprisingly good depth of character study. You could even say it's a natural progression how they ended up in that situation when you consider Akiharu's sense of responsibility (they both have it in spades, come to think of it).

The pair are in their late twenties so their actions and reflections are pretty spot-on. It's mostly from Akiharu's POV, but there's one delightful chapter from Mutsu's POV. Don't miss out on this--the summary doesn't do the story justice.

I really love the art style, especially the uke. He was feminin without being childish or actually looking like a girl. He was feminin in a way an adult gay man could be and I liked that. Also, there weren't that many tears, at least not in a way that made me think "jeez not again and for such a stupid reason".
I love the pace of the development, it is perfect, not rushed ur unnatural at all, not skipping. In fact, both of them had been gay all along, the uke just never thought about it before. But since he couldn't heve sex with women... So it's not this "I am actually straight but I am gay for you" thing. Also the way they start to have sex is actually realistic, like talking about who wants to be on what side and having to prepare and stuff. That actually feels more like a really lovely adult lovestory and less like the typical yaoi with the uke being forced but then "liking" it anyway and stupid dialogs and urealistic, immediate sex.

so,i don´t know if it was because i was half sleep when i was reading this manga or what but i find it kinda funny xD well, maybe not funny,it was more like i feel embarrassed by the ridiculousness and the awkwardness of the manga? (but isn't almost all yaoi mangas like that? e.e) and something that actually make me wanna read the manga was the "With pocket pussy in hand" of the description,i didn't understand what it mean i though it was some kind of metafory (i'm not english-native speaker by the way lol) and damn, it was important D: 'With pocket pussy in hand...literally" haha,so overall i don't think its a manga for read more than one time, but,it could be a good read if you don't have anything else to do and you want a light read.but hey,its your choice, and though i don't like the art style of this mangaka i ended finding the characters kinda hot o.o damn,i even though the sex scenes were okay even through they probably weren't that good...yep,reading manga when you´re half asleep is the best -w- lol

Guys (usually ukes) with feminine features, lots of tears and other fluids (lol), dramatic situations and romance advances, this manga is rather typical of Ootsuki Miu. For the most part there's no serious eyebrow-raising issues eg rape which the mangaka is regrettably notorious for, and all in all this is just very sparkling fluff spread in two volumes. Personally, I find it too silly to digest now, both the fluff and the thrown-in drama, after reading mangas for so long. Some would find this a cute read; it's just that I've outgrown the genre, is all.

Seriously, why isn't anyone discussing this?!? Vanilla Resort is like the Vanilla-est Resort to have ever resorted!!! The paneling is excellent and story is magnificent. I like slice-of-life however, it does tend to drag. I like Vanilla Resort because it balances slice-of-life themes and drama (ESCANDALO!). Plus, the characters are adorkably adorable.

Now otaku semes, I really happy for you all and Imma let yo finish, but Mutsu had one the best super otaku seme moments of all time! One the best super otaku seme moments of all time! Most otaku semes are handled this way: they often get make-overs and are extremely horny. Mutsu is different, he's vulnerable and almost child-like. His breakdown at chapter five was my favorite moment. He is a well-rounded character and I'm excited to see more of him.

I think Akiharu-kun rounds out the story. His narrative is special because, he speaks for the people in their twenty-somethings that are really lost. I can really relate to his story. I've got a normal eight-to-five job. It doesn't bring me much happiness, but it provides financial stability and it looks good on my resume. Prior to getting that job, I worked as a part-time online ESL teacher. I'm now juggling both because that ESL job gives me happiness and relief. Although, it doesn't actually count as a REAL job. I think that's what Akiharu sends.

I thought that this was a one-volume series and after reading one volume, I thought that it would end there. What a rushed ending! However, after checking Manga Updates, I found out that it has an ongoing status. Oh! What joyful glee!

I trust Ootsuki Miu and I know her work doesn't follow cliches. So, I'm looking forward to the following volumes.I hope you'll give this series a try! I hope the fans of this series will come out and voice their opinions Because, this is clearly a gem of a manga!

This is what I prefer from Ootsuki Miu. No rape. None. Not even a little. Of course it is pretty flowery, but not excessively typical either. I like the characters and there is good tension. It is, of course, nothing groundbreaking(this is Ootsuki Miu we're dealing with). The whole thing is a bit unrealistic and silly. It's not bad for a bit of fluff though.
