I'm looking for a manga/anime where the MC has no idea who they truly are. They live in a life made up of lies but later on will find out who or what they are.
SPOILER Alert!!!
Some examples are:
Vampire Knight- Yuki grew up as a human and didn't know she was actually a powerful vampire
Blood+- Saya believing she is a normal teenager has no memory of her dark past which is about to catch up to her.
Pandora Hearts- oz has no memory of being the killer B-rabbit and thought that Jack's body is really his.
Honoo no Mirage - Takaya lost his memory of being the powerful spirit guardian and now believes that the human body he posses is truly his.
All these characters have a dark past but lost their memory and begins to reawaken again.
Any genres are ok for me. Please recommend me something. Thanks. 😀

RahXephon -*EDIT - It's been so long, I remembered it wrong. He lives in Tokyo where they think the rest of the world has been destroyed or somesuch... when in reality it hasn't and there's an ongoing war, etc...
Utawarerumono - I forget exactly what the protagonist is, lol, something big... anyway he wakes up with no memories and ends up leading a lot of people... eventually remembers.

@ LilyLily: I would suggest you to actually hide a lot of those you listed in spoiler tags.^__^ Pandora Hearts, in particular, because that was a serious major reveal.

Anyways, this is one of my favorite kinds of storylines. MCs with dark pasts that were forgotten through trauma, magical interference (/spells), etc However, I wouldn't consider their current lives, "lies" per say when they have bonds with other people in their new lives. ^^;

ReMember - Guy can mysteriously fight well to his own surprise.
(Anyone familiar with my memory manga list, I did not add this one in yet. I just found it today.>.>)
Stigmata - Protagonist became a happy-go-lucky priest. (Edit x infinity: Oops, I put the "I second" in the wrong place!)
I second Tripeace - Don't know how/why, but this guy also had a 180 degree turn in personality.
D.Gray-man - To say exactly why the main character has a "dark past", on top of what we know already, would be a spoiler of itself. We've only recently scratched the surface of it so we're not sure how dark it is. The mangaka is human so we must be patient for the full truth to come out and for her to be 100% healthy. 😀 .
07-Ghost - What he remembers in the beginning is only a fraction of the truth....
B-Eyes - If I recall right, I'm pretty sure the guy lacks memories of his identity.
Release: The Emancipation of Personality
World End Fairytale - Well, he was the main male character, until

he "disappeared" once he "remembered"... >_< So much for that.

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle - In a way. I wouldn't consider

remembering you're a clone to be "dark" though. More like a magical scenario.
However, "living a lie". Yeeeep.
Innocent Dragon - Both amnesia and ! dissociative identity disorder. She didn't have an easy life in the past....

There is this one shoujo that I remember of a guy, who literally was living a "lie", but made some peace in the end. Like, he thought he was someone (a human), but he wasn't actually that person... If only I could remember the name of that story. :/

I would also second:

Quote from Giesela

Sougiya Riddle

Hayate Sakura, is a normal high school boy. He does not know that he actually a Crown Prince ...

This is more of a reincarnation story though, from the way it's going. ^^;

Speaking of reincarnation, I would recommend the anime, "Fantastic Children" when it comes to "reawakened dark pasts".

Its just like using the manga code instead of [m][/m] its

, just put your spoiler inside the box like so

spoiler Hello! /spoiler

Hello!

Just remember to put the brackets on 😉

Did you click the
button? Or, just manually type it in yourself. [ spoiler ] text [ / spoiler ]

Just connect the brackets with the words and you should be good to go. 😀
